  1. came here for 2014 Standard Chartered Bangkok Marathon, which starts at 2am in the morning, with start/finish point right beside the palace. i didn’t go inside to visit, just ran along the outside. quite unique experience, gather here at midnight with thousands of other runners. very fun!

  2. Great spirit of runners and also of the organizers. The marathon Bangkok event went out so beautifully with very high energy. I enjoyed the atmosphere of the event.

  3. In Bangkok events are very well coordinated with best decorations. This time i participated in Bangkok marathon the event was truly awesome.

  4. This is unusual for a European as the race starts at midnight to avoid the heat and traffic during the day. Still around 30C at the start with heat radiating from the roads in the city areas. Nice size with 4000 runners and well organised. Toilets – bring your own paper! and in very hot buses 300m from the start. Plenty of free water and gatorade. The start is a bit chaotic as the pacers start in front of the runners (no corrals) so you will have to chase them down. First 5K takes you out of the Grand palace and city then it is a straight-ish highway for 30K out and back so not much to see. Plenty of space though, never feels crowded from the start but the heat gets to you if you are not used to it. Water every 2K is helpful. Nice noisy finish and medal. Enjoyed it but it is harder than the elevation and profile suggest due to the heat, humidity and timing. One for a bit of fun rather than a time! I ran 4.30 with a total melt down last 20K (1.51 first half) having done a 3.16 in the colder UK 4 weeks earlier! Take it easy!
