Wat Samana Kottharam is perched on a picturesque hilltop overlooking 13000, Thailand
I cycled to the temple which is nearby to Wat Ayutthaya and the floating village. It is not large and incorporates a working monastery. A large colourful Buddha image can be seen from the road. There are many broken relics lying around.and two badly eroded stupas but being the only one there it had an almost mystical atmosphere. There is an interesting ruined building with pillars and many other parts that make good photos. Not the best in Ayutthaya but worth the trip if not just to get away from the noise of the town and tourist buses.
The ruins of a historically important temple sits alongside a currently functioning monastery. Not an especially attractive ruin, and appears to be infrequently visited.
