  1. This ancient remains is quite complete. We can imagine all old buildings form while we walk around. There are lots of big tree stand around the main temple protected us from sunlight.

  2. Wat Maheyong is one of temple in Ayutthaya. This Temple was abandoned due to the collapse of Ayutthaya.

  3. Every hotel, or accomodation provide maps of attractions, temples and ruins. This one like all has its interesting features. Central to town its easy to find and i saw many locals and touros looking at this site. What i found sad, was the signs around displaying that it was illegal to climb on the ruins mainly directing this towards we tourists. However the only ones i wittnessed doing this was the locals. Nice place – no charge, parking ok, plenty of bicycles to hire everywhere.

  4. After visiting several other sites a vague sense of familiarity intrudes, yet this site was a lot more interesting to me. The fences, walls, arches and other temples gave me a clearer appreciation than did the other, larger temples that stood alone in isolation of ancillary structures. A more complete picture of what once was I found more interesting than often more impressive stand alone ruins. This site was also (perhaps) easier to keep clean and shadier as we moved from one ruin to another. Recommended.

  5. not to busy well worth the side trip. you can have the place to yourself. lots of great photos this day with the light and the nuns cleaning the place.

  6. This is a temple complex that dates from the 1400’s. It was first restored in 1711, and then destroyed again during the Burmese invasion. The ordination hall and several other building are in good restored condition. The signs in English are helpful.

  7. Wat Maheyong is located about 5 Km from Wat MahaThat. There is an entrance ticket here, but you can use your combi 220 Baht ticket, if you have bought it earlier. There are sign boards, illustrating on its history and significance. The Wat was not crowded as it is off the main tourist circuit. There is a long walkway leading to the exhibits. The exhibits here are the Chedi, and the ordination hall. The Chedi’s platform is supported by 80 sculpted elephants. There is ample greenery around. There is a monastery and retreat centre here and discreet dressing is needed. The place bounds to be hot, therefore carry a hat, sun lotion and water. We spend about 1 hour here. You will need, to have your own transport, otherwise you’ll be stranded here. For us, the trip was worth the effort

  8. Serenity must be the theme of this temple complex. It is so peaceful and quiet and well worth walking around and enjoying the beauty of the area. Definitely worth taking the time for a visit!
