  1. This is a (by Bangkok standards) relatively small shopping arcade, situated in a neoclassical building behind the Oriental Hotel. It’s covered, it’s air conditioned and it does not get packed. What’s different from other places: the merchandise is at the higher end of shopping, this is not a bargain basement with street market prices. What you get is an impressive selection of antique shops selling anything from small mementoes to large items of furniture, wonderful jewellery shops, a number of tailors, leather and linen ware shops. The tailors cater for the Europen market – the colours are more muted (a common error when buying stuff in Thailand: the vibrant colours which look so good, can feel a bit out of place in Europe). They will copy stuff or they will create something from scratch. There is a small coffee shop. This is a smart shopping environment away from the noise of the city.

  2. Although nicely presented many of the stores here are empty and those that are not are very expensive. We were the only shoppers there on our visit and it was very quiet and uninspiring. There are antique shops plus expensive jewellers and leather shops etc but I wouldn’t recommend it.

  3. I’d only recommend popping in here if you were passing. Don’t make this a must-visit destination. This neoclassical building, with a feeling of colonialism about it, is very grand, but in terms of shopping there’s also a sense of grandeur…at a price. So, wander around, have a look and move on. The nearby O.P. Garden is more relaxed, a place where you might stop for a coffee or light meal, but again, apart from Serindia Gallery (great exhibition when we visited) and a jewellery shop that might (and it’s a big ‘might’) have something of interest, there’s not a lot here either.

  4. I love this art galleries here in O.P. Garden. I loved nearly all the artworks. This gallery is so well thought out the way it was designed. I love the decor. Well done to the professional staff and the good service they provide.

  5. Great artefacts; however, be prepared for paying between a few hundreds up to several thousands EUR (museum-quality, excellent, but very pricey Khmer pieces). This is not a flea market or a place to buy a regional souvenir from. BTW – a great tailor has his shop there as well.

  6. It is a little dated now with a few shops having closed. Still worth visiting for a few moments to look at the old decadence decor and check out the art gallery on the ground floor (they also have an outlet at the Mandarin Oriental next door) and the various antique and tailor shops.

  7. Another building of clearly European influence, this shopping complex houses a lot of boutiques and antiques shops.Good thing, there’s free parking for 3 hours if you come by car.

  8. may be because its part of the oriental hotel, so things arr more expensive. theres only a few shops, not that exciting to shop here.
