The Camp – Vintage Flea Market is perched on a picturesque hilltop overlooking Kamphaeng Phet Rd Chatuchak, Chatuchak, 10900, Thailand
The Camp Vintage Flea market is not very big area but convenience as just opposite side of Chaduchak Weekend market. After you visit to the weekend market then you can walking via this market to enjoy their food and drink.
A small scale of night market. Suitable for those who have interest in hipster and vintage style, as the things selling there are basically the theme of the market. Other than that, there is a band and places for food and drinks.
We had a great night with amazing food, beer and great atmosphere in this little hipster oasis next to the mighty Chatuchak weekend market.Although fairly small, it has a very relaxed and welcoming atmosphere with a range of vintage and second hand clothing and furniture stalls. There are also some cool museum type spaces too!We chose to eat at ik-ki izakaya and would HIGHLY recommend. The welcome and care from the staff was second to none and the food (tender strips of beef over onions and rice with a beautiful broth and pickled ginger) was absolutely amazing. The only downside to being in a such a quirky and alternative space in Bangkok is that you feel like you are in a constant Instagram shoot. We waited a good 5 minutes for one girl to pose in a million different ways of opening a door 😂 and there was a full on queue of people waiting to sit on the car (it is a very cool set up I must admit) to pose in 5 million ways… mostly with their eyes closed for that ideal candid “oh I’m having the time of my life” shot. Yes take photos – I did – but this is too good a wee place to miss out on because you’re preoccupied with what you want other people see and think about you. Experience it and enjoy the moment.
Ever since David ‘The Duke’ Dickinson burst onto our screens in the late 90’s, I have had a mild obsession with car boot sales and flea markets. Nothing gets my juices flowing any more than a rummage around some stranger’s tat and then proceeding to belittle them with paltry offers.I were back in the Kok for a weekend of pure sleaze. It’s been a good few months for me with both the ongoing custody battle over the kids now finally cleared up (she can have them the daft bint) and with likes of Mark Francois and Johnny Mercer taking a more prominent place in politics back home, life was on the up and up.This flea market is just outside the absolutely mental weekend market which is a much more populated area. That said, nothing inside it really offers the pure delight that only a flea market can bring. Small in size (I would say about 100 tables maximum) this place has your usual mishmash of all kinds of junk. Sadly I am a man of impulse and began to buy significant amounts of both unneeded and unwanted dogtod. First, a 4ft owl in a hat. After this was 3 x Megadeath albums on cassette. By this point all the sellers were hounding me to visit their stalls, I was a hot buyer and they knew it. Next was 7 Corinthian football figurines, a Freddie Bulsara and AH face painting and finally a 5ft futuristic steel cyborg soldier that closely resembles an angry Mick Philpott. All this and I only had hand luggage for my flight home. The sellers got pretty angry when I refused to pay and subsequently began to bargain the price down after shaking on the deal. I felt pretty cruddy doing this but in my defence, I do lose my head when making impulse purchases. One seller came at me with a shank, I laughed him off and said if he was going to do me in then make it quick. He bottled it of course. Anyways I’m now lumbered with this tat and if anyone reading this is keen on taking any of it. Let me know.Definitely go and see this market though, it’s nice
Most of the clothing shops have closed. The food outlets were not open at 5pm. There were quite a few tourists taking pictures but there was no life to the place. It looked very sad and empty.
I went there on a rainy day and the market was quiet. I arrived at the opening and enjoyed the atmosphere. Already a long line of teenagers waiting to attend the (free) evening concert. Certainly, for economic reasons, some stores have closed their doors. Beautiful shops, comfortable to shop and have a drink in one of the bars (I chose the Motor Butter, because I like the old truck). A small flea market that seems a little more expensive than the chatuchak market. Located just next to the Or Kor Tor Fresh Market.
Walk through the bottom of Chatuchak market (the trendy shops part) and come out by Kamphaeng Phet mrt station go along the main road or to the right of the entrance of the mrt and you will find “The Camp” lots of small independent shops selling mainly vintage and some new items of clothing, shoes, Japanese goods. Towards the back is an open air area with a huge Plane and an old American pick up truck, where they sell beers and food. Loads of places to sit and chat, drink and take photos! Had a really great time after shopping to sit relax and talk over beers in the warm evening heat. My top tip… take your mosquito spray !
