It located next to Ekkamai BTS station so it’s too comfortable to go there. It has many activities, interesting players, knowledge , media , exhibition and experiments about science that everyone can enjoy with them so it’s suitable for everyone especially kids.Besides, now it’s has opened an aquarium.
The museum is a bit old, but compared to when I visited it 6 years ago, it has improved a lot. The planetarium has been renovated and new attractions/experiments were added. Although most info is in thai, a lot of English has been added for the new attractions. Went on a weekday with 2 kids, who enjoyed it a lot and want to come back again one day. Entrance is super cheap, and so it is very worth it. Museum has 4 sections – Planetarium, Science building, Aquarium and Nature Building. Planetarium show, which lasted 45 min which was really wonderful and cool, kids enjoyed a lot. The only English show is on Tuesdays at 10am. We came on a Tuesday, but cause of traffic were late 5 min, and they didn’t allow us to enter once it started exactly on time. Come at least 10 min before the time if you want to come for English show. We decided to go for the Thai version at 11 am, and although we could not understand, we understood the planet and star Labels on screen which were in English, so it was OK. The Science building has sections that are really old and need renovations, but some are quite new and fun, with all the english labels and information. The aquarium is super small and not much there, we spent less than 5 min there. The Nature building has 8 floors, highlights include the dinosaur section and the Kids city (for smaller kids under 10), it is like a huge playground with all kinds of play areas, which was the part my kids spent the most time in. There is also a thai canteen over there where we had lunch, cheap but regular canteen food as expected. Drinks and snacks also available for sale. Overall, spent a good 4 hrs at the museum, could potentially spend more time if you read all the information and spend more time in each section, we just went through most of it quickly.
We started at the Planetarium as we arrived just in time for the 10am show in English (Tuesdays) It was excellent and my wife and daughter loved it too. Then we went on to the science part new ticket but really cheap. Most of the gadgets didn’t work but it still had a lot of info to offer. Probably of more interest to younger kids. Also included was the Aquarium which was quite good then across the road for some more exhibits. All in all very good and excellent value for money, worth checking out for something to do. Just a short walk from Ekkamai BTS.
knowing that this place has improved a lot and planned a trip there. One day before, already checked on the web no reservation required for the planetarium, can purchase ticket at the counter. Took a long trip there, upon arrival, found that all the shows on that day are full. When we told the staff we travel a long way here, they just commented that many people also travel long way here, so meaning, you’re just unlucky !
Kids love to visit since bangkok is famous with shopping so this the place for kids spot to have funa and learning about science. Ticket fare is very cheap only 20 bath for kids and 30 baths for adult
If you have a few hours to kill, then I’d recommend this place. We spent four and a bit hours on a Saturday morning, mooched round most of the stuff, had a very pleasant (and cheap) bowl of noodle soup and found the place very agreeable. It’s split into four buildings: astronomy, science, fish and the seas and ‘the rest’ Unfortunately, building 2, the science one, was closed on my visit.Cons: If you don’t speak Thai, it might be a touch tricky, as most commentary and exhibits in only in Thai Some of the gear is a little outdated and needs a bit of maintenance.Pros:Conveniently situated next to Ekkamai BT.You can park outside the ticket booth, provided you get there early. The entrance is a bargain basement ฿30 (kids ฿20) and no dual pricing.
Conveniently located near BTS, the narrator of the star content is exciting and interesting. The planetarium is very beautiful. suitable for studying science
We are not Thai and we attended the Thai version in the Planetarium. English is only available at 10am on Tuesday. We could still follow what was being said… roughly… because space terms are in English. My main point of concern is that it felt like a science lesson. I went to a different planetarium when I was a kid many decades ago…I still remember that feeling of “spectacular” because that was a journey through space…..my little kids just slept through almost entirely mostly because they couldn’t connect with the language ! They had fun at the science exhibition however and wanted to stay there forever, but we dragged them out.
Great educational exhibits. Lots of stuff about different scientific principles. My daughter loved all the exhibits. They have an old F 86 sabre in the courtyard. Lots of stuff from biology, physics and paleontology. Really cheap 50 baht per adult. Worth your money and time. The only downside was there were a lot of schools there for field trips and they got really loud like kids do.
Don’t waste your precious time here. I am speaking both for the locals and tourists.Terrible in both exhibitions, the main exhibition had many broken displays and a lack of interaction. Planetarium poor storyline and low sound quality and resolution. Go have fun at some indoor playgrounds seem better option for kids.
Good for education for kids and also adults, many things to do in each stations, and planetarium is quite good experience for kids
