King Taksin the Great Park is perched on a picturesque hilltop overlooking Leab Noen Road and Highway 3146, Thailand
King Taksin the Great Park is a large park in central Chanthaburi, a Thai provincial city about 250 south east of Bangkok.Everywhere you go in this city there are memorials and shrines to King Taksin – The King Taksin the Great Shrine, the King Taksin the Great Memorial, the King Taksin the Great Shipyard, the King Taksin the Great Museum, and so on.The reason that Chanthaburi pays such homage to King Taksin, is that when the Burmese invaded Siam and sacked the royal capital at Ayutthaya in 1767, King Taksin retreated to Chantaburi with the remnants of his army. He regrouped, build ships, trained a navy, and launched a counter offensive, driving the Burmese out of Siam and creating a unified Siam, the basis of modern Thailand. The King Taksin the Great Park is a large lake, with several small islands accessible by footbridges, and is surrounded on all sides by parklands. On one of the islands is the King Taksin the Great Memorial, a shrine featuring a bronze of King Taksin surrounded by four of his officers. The park is hugely popular with locals in the morning and the evening for walking, jogging, or more gentle exercising, like Tai Chi.
cost nothing to see this and it is easy to get to. I recommend a visit to this,it only takes a few minutes. The statue was amazing up close
Nice place to walk around or sit in cafe over looking it in a cafe. Ladies sell bird and fish food beside the moat which seems popular. Gives the town a nice feel
King TAKSIN the Great was one of Thai Hero who united the nation and fighted against enemies over 200 years ago. The shrine is in down town of Chantaburi, next to City Pillar of the town.
It’s very big with lots of natural ponds , connected by small bridges you can cross, it’s quite fun to be there, nice lawns. During the day there very few people, so your can enjoy being there all alone and meditate if you wish :). Greenery is nice, lots of trees and palms, excellent views and points to take pictures
Great, big green park for local population right in the middle of a city. There’s good area equipped with gym stuff. Plenty of locals came to jog or run around. Large lake has plenty of fish, which can be fed with fish food on sale for moderate price.
