After seeing this waterfall was not listed on TripAdvisor I sought to add it so we could share our experience and hopefully provide others the same enjoyment! We decided to visit as we wanted to see some awesome waterfalls in Chaing Mai without having to drive far away from the city and Wang Bua Ban did not disappoint. We got a Grab to Chaing Mai Zoo and then walked to the waterfall. We visited Huay Keaw waterfall first (see other review) as it was on the way, but then walked about 15 minutes further up to reach Wang Bua Ban. If you dont fancy the walk you can drive to the top of the waterfall, but I recommend the scenic walk! Wang Bua Ban waterfall is huge and has a number of pools which are great for dipping your feet or a swim if you can brave the cold water! It’s truly beautiful and conveniently located near the City. There is even a lookout point at the top which overlooks Chiang Mai (see the attached photo) and offers a nice resting spot. It’s also not very touristy which means you get to enjoy the natural beauty, and it’s free to visit which is a huge plus! Due to it being less touristy there aren’t any amenities such as toilets or shops etc. but I think that adds to the natural beauty. I’d also recommend decent footwear if you want to get up close to the waterfall. If you want to see some of the beautiful nature Chaing Mai has to offer without travelling far away from the city then I thoroughly recommend this place!
Conveniently located on the way to Doi Suthep Temple is a series of rapids in a lush forest. It gets few visitors. The path goes downhill and is poorly maintained. Take care and wear good shoes.A pleasant place to meditate.
