This is by far our favorite hangout place in Chiangmai. Short walk from CMU entrance on Huay Kaew Road – you will come to a specatacular view of the lake against Doi Suthep in the background…breathtaking!Take a walk along the right to the end, there is a quiet patch of greens where we do our morning meditation and yoga – absolutely fantastic! Go early in the morning to catch the warm morning Sun, it is really delightful. There are usually a lot of tourists in the afternoon although late afternoon/ early evenings around 430pm is also wonderful – if you don’t mind the people/ tourists walking around taking pix…There is a big sign that says NO DOGS ALLOWED, despite, my lovely dog and I have been enjoying the lake (no swimming) – spreading love and joy to people we meet. My dog is a very well behaved dog – absolutely adorable so there had not been any complaints! 😉
Quiet and picuresque sat reading for nearly 2 hours take water and get a Nancy Chandler Map. Can be done with visits to the Huay Kaew Arborteum and the Chiang Mai Zoo (if you must)
I stopped by December 2016.I wanted to get a few photos and take in the views. There is a coffee shop so you could come along to relax and unwind for a while.I just rode straight in and parked up on my scooter and nobody seemed to mind.
Ang Kaew Reservoir is located in Chiang Mai University campus, but tourists are not allowed to access the campus by themselves. Tourists must buy the shuttle ticket near the main entrance and the shuttle will bring you around the campus with audio guide. The only stop is at Ang Kawe Reservoir which tourists have 10 minutes to take pictures before getting back to the shuttle. The lake is beautiful which you can see the water reflection. But there is nothing more and there is too little time to enjoy to view. Not a very worthwhile place to visit at all, given the restriction like this.
This is a large artificial lake in CMU which also provides its water. Pleasant and serene at sunrise. Good for walks. The CMU buses tourists here during the day so early mornings are best to avoid the crowds.
I like the view of the reservoir although it would have been better if more time was given to jus soak in the view rather than the 15 minutes for photo taking. It would also have been better if the other 3 (non stop) heritage buildings covered in the tour included some stop time for photos too.
Good walk round the reservoir.coffee shop followed by great coffee from the shop is a perfect way to start the morning Not too strenuous, but a nice pleasant walk. Always plenty of people around to say hi to.
Such a beautiful spot to walk about. Nice university community and also nice cafe in the area. Very positive energy coming from this reservoir.
Nice resevoir in the university campus. Good for morning or evening exercise. There is a part for pet lovers gathering in late afternoon. There is one coffee shop.Enough carpark area but expect some long walk. Toilet is limited.
🌿🏞️This was a pleasant, calm, beautiful & much needed nature experience for our family. Such a lovely walk around the reservoir, with the magnificent mountains around us. We also had a both affordable and good food experience at the café.
