  1. Starting by saying that this is a very beautiful building and only for that it worths a visit! The museum of the History of Isan People and Isan territory is in the basement of this Cultural Center. The Museum is very interesting and very organised, showing all the particularities of the History of these lands of Korat and Isan people. Even the calligraphy is shown and explained, as the ancient people had different writings. very important to say that now the Cultural Center is also providing accommodation without breakfast, but around you will find many options to have a great and cheap breakfast! Staff speaks english.

  2. This centre has a museum showing the history of Issan. It’s a bit unkempt with no guides. The building is stunning with great gardens.

  3. An architecturally interesting spot with good facilities for hosting events (weddings, parties, business presentations etc.).

  4. The architecture you see in the photo is actually a hotel- the museum is in the basement, accessible from the main lobby or a side entrance. No fees, but you can make donations. Inside, you find a well-documented history of the Isan people of the region – all in Thai, of course – with many well-designed exhibits, even a mini- Bhuddist temple courtyard. I don’t recall feeling any a/c, so you may want to plan accordingly. But don’t miss this great site and its surrounding grounds. A short walk across the parking area is a terrific little coffee shop with pastries, smoothies and coffee/tea drinks to support your post-visit reflection.

  5. Head to the basement of Ubon Cultural Center where you can visit a Isaan museum. Although not properly maintained (fused light bulbs, spider web, dust, etc), this free museum provides some interesting insights into the Isaan culture.

  6. This is great building that stands out in an otherwise ordinary city. The building houses a hotel which has very dated rooms but with a low cost. In the basement there is a “folk” museum which was interesting but all the signs were in Thai only.

  7. From the outside, the impression is spectacular. Once inside, it rapidly becomes rather tired.Hotel rooms were “ok” but, what coukd have been fabulous was actually mundane. Breakfast was nonexistant. The museum has great potential but…

  8. The building itself is a piece of art itself – grand and ornate. The museum on the first floor is bigger than we expected and full of well-written English history plaques (though many of the item description signs were only in Thai). Quiet and no attendants around to make you uncomfortable with stares, take your time to learn about Ubon Ratchathani’s history from 15,000 years ago to the present.

  9. This place is good to go to to get more knowledge/history of the area and of Isan, but it is also heavily about the history of buddhism =, which one can honestly learn about all throughout Thailand. If it weren’t for this, the cultural center would be a lot better, but with that being said too, one is able to come to the conclusion how important Buddhism is to Thai culture

  10. The cultural center was not open when we went but the building is very well worth a stop to admire its structure! It is huge, intricate and impressive building!! I wish we had been able to enter, though I have ready some mixed feelings reviews of the interior…
