There is much to do by way of shows, dancing, weekend outdoor shopping centers. Food galore is to be found on the square along with many opportunities to exercise.
Apart from its gold Buddhas, this park is used extensively by locals for exercise and socialising. There are at least 60 car parking spaces. When I visited at 1030 hours on a Sunday after attending Mass at Immaculate Conception Cathedral (Catholic), the area was not busy, but it would make a great introduction to this northern Thai city for any visitor.
An exquisite place! The cultural milieu of Ubon (the areas around Sunnee Tower and Big C aren’t too shabby either). This very month I had the rare privilege of seeing the Candle Festival and running a Half Marathon (not simultaneously of course!).My partner, her friends and I had a wonderful time a the festival; dancing with the parade before chilling out at the very chic Roof Café the day after! We found even during these events as well as the night market that the square is accessible, not overly crowded and is as always…gorgeous! An absolute must if you find yourself in Ubon town! Smiles aplenty!
This park is a large park in the city of Ubon Ratchathani and there are several interesting things to see including a very large “candle”. Many people exercise here and it is a fun atmosphere. In the evenings, one corner of this area turns into a night market for food — many yummy, affordable Thai delicacies!
Beautiful temple, would highly recommend visiting. We were able to witness some sort of religious service and were later invited to talk to one of the monks.
one of a nice place to see as one spot of the city. Many people pay respect here for a good luck and safety during travel.
That monument is in the main city park.So much happens there.People walk.- jog around perimeter. Aerobic are done there .Basketbal is played there.Big area for relaxation. Big Candle monument there.Outdoor gym there. If you go to Ubon it is a must to visit.
Perimeter is a great running track, very busy early evening.Nice small temple, beaten up outdoor gym, Basketball courts, photogenic candle monument and in the far SW corner, a small monument of thanks from WW2 POWs to the local people who gave them food during their captivity. Avoid during the Songkran water festival unless you enjoy manic hysteria and dirty water fights….lots of people do. At new year a big fair and teak furniture market. Most weekends an amazing food night market on the adjoining walking street. Good buzz there once dark.Very safe place with many friendly locals who like to try out their English. Ample parking in cross sectional road before 4pm. Worth a visit. Perimeter track well shaded by trees.
In a city which is not putting tourism at the forefront this is one of these places where you should definitely go to. Preferably around 6-7 pm and in the weekend. Why? So you can join the locals working out in different ways or enjoy the foods or other things for sale at the market.During day time it’s worthwhile to combine with a visit to the temple wearing the same name.
I walked through and around this park twice and it’s a real popular place for the locals. A good place to get some exercise and enjoy some fresh air.
