Khuang Sing Chinese Cemetery is perched on a picturesque hilltop overlooking Chang Phueak, 50300, Thailand
This is a unique attraction of Chiang Mai. You can see lines upon lines of huge sofa shaped graves. They are adorned with all sorts of Chinese structures and head pieces. There are red pagodas, stone statues and plaques with Chinese inscriptions can be seen on each grave.
Khuang Sing Chinese Cemetery is on route 107 heading north out of Chiang Mai city. After crossing the inner ring road, entrance is almost immediately on the left, so go slow, and take the third small road named ‘Soi Chotana 3’.Just before this road is the entrance to Wat Khuang Sing, which means you can easily visit two sites in one go.The Chinese Cemetery is large and well laid out in traditional Cinese style. Great for photos. Each burial chamber takes the form of a mound, with intrically decorated marble stones at the head. Many interesting ones here.There is a hall for ceremonies, a fine gazebo-type structure and a lily pond. Also, just to one side is a monument surrounded by water. Interesting!When I visited there were a number of staff watering the lawns. There seemed to be no problem looking round the cemetery and taking pictures.Strongly recommended as something a little different in Chiang Mai.
