Just a not very good stylization of a rooster.Maybe, I just don’t get it.Not my ” attraction” at all.
Not sure what people are suppose to write about with this one?? It’s sort of like where I sometimes go camping – up in the mountains in Western Virginia. There is a town there that has a bronze statue of a turkey right off the side of the main road going through the town. The town is known for it’s turkey farms, so people stop and take a picture with the turkey. Kind of like this chicken – maybe stop and take a photo with it, but not really an attraction.
The city Of the Rooster. Come here for photo- taking with family, friends and couples. Very beautiful surroundings.
Do you like roosters? Do you like medium-sized statues? Are you currently in Lampang? This may be the perfect attraction for you. I annually fly from the US to Lampang just to take in the majesty of this avian edifice. Please keep in mind that this is not a living rooster as some may have hoped. Also, this statue isn’t as grand as some of the more famous galline statues such as the Providence Rhode Island Rooster or the infamous Salem CT Giant Rooster.As 2017 is the year of the rooster, I’d call ahead to reserve your viewing space. On some mornings in the past, it’s been difficult to find room amongst the throngs of admirers. I usually camp out the night before so I can experience the rooster during sunrise. I’d recommend some field glasses or binoculars just to be safe.I’d ignore the reviewers who claim this isn’t worth visiting. I suspect they were not the right audience for a cultural landmark with such historic significance. My only gripe about this attraction is that there is no gift/souvenir shop for the the giant rooster. My children were bitterly disappointed not to have any giant rooster t-shirts or action figures they could show off to their friends back home. Finally, I’d be wary of the many scams that have popped up to take advantage of the hordes of tourists who visit the giant rooster. I’ve heard that some unscrupulous taxi drivers will charge clients 500-600 baht and drive them to see a much smaller, less majestic rooster in another part of town. Also, be aware that there is technically no fee to gaze upon the rooster. I imagine there must be a local society dedicated to upkeep of the rooster but I’ve been unable to find an address for my donations.Ultimately I’d place the giant rooster somewhere ahead of the the Pyramids at Giza, but slightly behind taking a photo of yourself pretending to prop up the leaning tower of Pisa. It certain deserves a top spot on anyone’s bucket list.
I have to admit that we were lost in Lampang and were delighted to stumble across one of the famous Rooster statues that adhorn Lampang.We were nit disappointed to witness such a fine creature, fabulous species and a must see for all avian fans.
What a rooster! I have seen many a real life rooster but I feel as though this statue looks even more real than all of the real roosters I have seen before. Really. I can’t describe my feelings of awe and excitement when I first laid eyes on this fine specimen. I spent a good 20 minutes looking deep into the rooster’s eyes and feel changed. Not to be missed.
It’s a statue – a symbol of Lampang. Just take a picture and keep in your album. Don’t expect to spend more than a few minutes.
We set out in the hot afternoon sun to find this notable and important landmark. After two hours of walking to the location marked on the TripAdvisor map, the big chick was nowhere in sight. We asked the security guard at the Lampang Highway Maintenance Office where it was. He asked his friend while we petted his overly friendly dogs.His friend, “Bang”, knew the whereabouts of the cock in question and offered to drive us there. Gratefully we accept. Five minutes later we see the famous Lampang Rooster in all its glory. Drawing closer we notice the podium on which it sits is also a roundabout. I knew that if I was driving I most certainly would’ve crashed as I beheld the magnificence of this fine statue. The Rooster alone: 6/5. Because the location was wrong: -1. The danger of such a mind-blowingly beautiful statue being the centrepiece for a roundabout: -1. 4/5 stars, not bad.
This white rooster statute is a big one on the highway heading north before entering the city. Taking picture there is a good start to beginn journey at this tranquil city, I start exploring the nearby Kaad Muan Jai, ceramic center where I can select local products.
There really isn’t much more to say about this statue. You’ll see it on the highway on the way to Wat Prathat Lampang Luang from the city center. It’s not much more than a large lawn ornament on the side of the road. You’re likely to see more ornate chicken statues dotted around the temples in the city of Lampang.
