Weapon Museum is perched on a picturesque hilltop overlooking Highway 2196, 67270, Thailand
One can visit but nothing much to see there and it is quite far to with very steep road. Few Guns and 1 helicopter and 1 fighter aircraft is there.
We walked around the war memorial but did not go into the weapons museum. It looks like a small one room museum with rifles and weapons used by the Thai forces from 1961 to 1981 who were fighting the communists
This is the place where thousands of Thai soldiers were kills during the communist war during BE 2521-2525 in these 3 provincial rural (Pitsanulok / Petchaboon / Loey). Thai army tried to resolve the conflict while protecting the land. The war monument was set up later with touched meaning of sacrifice..
To call it a museum is a bit much, but it is a collection of armory used in the Thai army’s fight against “the communists”. With the war in Vietnam over, the attention turned to the local opponents to the military regime and the fight was particularly bloody in the second half of the 1970s after the crackdown on the student revolt at Thammasat resulted in many new communist recruits.Today, kids can play with the remains of the Thai army’s weaponry while any one with an interest in history can watch a video / photo show explaining a bit (in Thai) about the now nearly forgotten civil insurgency.
It is to co memo rate the fight with communists , there is a video show to explain the history weapons used are displayed including the aircrafts
There is some real old weapon and heli left from the war, not really interest me much. But there some spot there to view the district on higher ground which I found it quite enjoyable. Required a 10 baht entrance fee which is cheap, and I think worth a visit for the scenery.
Interesting view into the recent past and the challenges SEA countries faced with communism. Enjoyable 1/2 hr walk around exhibits. Elevation makes for Great views of the surrounding areas.
Small & interesting museum,THB10 for entry. Weapons from the attempted communist uprising in the 60’s & 70’s.Airplane & a couple of helicopters & wreckage of others shot down. Some beefy hills on the road to get it!
I visited this a few years previous. Since then nothing new has been added and it seems little maintenance has occurred. Children should enjoy and people interested in history of the area. Parking is provided and areas to enjoy the views and eat a meal. Between late February to early May the area has a serious smoke haze problem most days. It is almost impossible to get good photos of the views.
Small museum on the hill which shows the weapons used during the fight of thai against communism. Cheap entry fee and nice setting. Should visit when over there or passing there.
