We went on the new year long weekend and it was cold, and swarming with people. Nice enough, and great views from the top, but the building itself is average and looked in need of a coat of paint and a good scrub. Small and average gardens.
I love the pine scent in the air the most! The drive up is a bit hard but OK. Parking is limited and the garden is mostly crowded with “selfie” taking hoards. Bathrooms are pretty dirty and broken down and there is no toilet paper or soap. The Royal residential building itself is simple but well suited to the environment.But you must move past all of that and INHALE – JUST BREATHE AND FEAST YOUR EYES ON THE VIEW. Pure bliss!!! There is a small walking trail leading even higher up the mountain, it is for the adventurous and energetic. The view from the top is very similar to the one below just 700m higher. Not recommended for small children, anyone with bad knees or anybody who does not really enjoy tricky climbing. Absolute NO after rain as it is very slippery and dangerous.
This is a pretty non description attraction, it is a long drive up winding steep roads to get here. Once you arrive the gardens are not that big and not well maintained, the building itself looks deserted and does not look like it has been used for a long time, it looks more like a run down hotel than a Royal residence.
It is pretty if you look from the top in the picture, if you are on the ground, you see the round building and a small garden. I expect the royal residences to be more grand but it is more towards like guest house from outside. The place is high and view of the town is good. If you do not have time, you can skip this place as it is not very near to the town.
The palace was not in a good shape and really need a major maintenance. However, the view was beautiful like in the past. It’s a pity that all the signs and stories were in Thai while foreign tourists stopped by to admire the palace.
