  1. The staircase leading onto this footbridge is located opposite to the flower market, behind Wororot Market. The Chansom Memorial Bridge is the ideal connection to the old guesthouse area of Chiang Mai. Nowadays there are mainly bars and art galleries to visit. The last guesthouse still operating (as far as I know) is the Regina with the lovely garden next to the Ping River. The bridge can be easily included in a walking tour from China Town to explore the other side of the river. Cross Nawarat Bridge (Near the Tourist Office), turn left to visit the river bars or some art galleries and then take the footbridge to walk back to China Town. Or do the whole round trip in the opposite direction. The original wooden bridge was replaced by a stronger, concrete bridge in 1966. Eventually even this one had to be renewed in 2016.Chansom Memorial Bridge is the best place to witness or join firework activities during Loy Khratong in November. You can also observe the occasional boat passing by or see a group of stand-up paddlers practicing their skills.

  2. A very beautiful and peaceful pedestrian bridge over Ping River, without any vehicles passing through. The best time to visit is during sunset, the scenery is wonderful.

  3. The Chansom river bridge is a pedestrian bridge over the Ping River in Chiang mai. No vehicles are allowed on it. We crossed this bridge over the Ping River, as we were walking from the Chiang Mai Sikh Gurudwara to the Namdaree Temple on the side. The steps leading down this side, leads you to the flower market and China Town. As we were there at noon, it was quite a hot weather and best to carry a hat, sunblock and water with you.

  4. This is a pedestrian bridge from the Warorot Market going across the Ping river. The river is very peaceful and you can take nice pictures of city skyline.

  5. I crossed the bridge on my way to Wat Gate Garam after visiting Thong Lam Yai Market. There was a sign in English beside the bridge. It’s safe because it’s for pedestrians, but it’s not that big, and the river isn’t very clean, so it’s not really a tourist spot.
