  1. Beautiful setting in a restored colonial building with and fantastic shopping. Beautiful textiles, cotton products and sashiko embroidery. Kung the owner is very knowledgeable about all thing’s craft and textiles in Chiang Mai and the local area. Great little garden cafe is an added bonus

  2. As a self employed textile artist from the Uk i am always looking for craft experience wherever I travel .. something that connects me with the place I travel too… I approached Cotton farm in view to take part in their Indigo dye shirt workshop but it did not take long to change my mind and book myself on a three day solo Cotton weaving with Kung and master weaver Pad. I am so excited about the result i have learned so much about weaving as well as completing almost 6 meters of fine natural cotton cloth. I have learned how to set up a traditional loom, troubleshooting, and weave as well as connecting with local weavers (not some made for for the purpose of tourism but some real people who alongside their farm work earn a regular living out of their skills … weaving skills they have gained over 40 years of practise … it was an unbelievable experience as well as a step into the real Thailand … everyone was so very generous with their time and their expertise … I spend the first day learning the basic… that is including preparing the little spools of yarn that would go into my navettes … and I started weaving… on the second day Kung took me to the local village out of Chiangmai where most of her weavers live and work. We learned how to set up the warp from scratch … on the third day after asking millions of questions I resumed weaving and produced my 6 meters … lunch and hot drinks were included in the workshop… as well as the yarn to weave what I could manage and that is very good. The visit to the village was friendly and i felt so included despite not being able to communicate either the two weavers teaching… this is a truly professional workshop and I would recommend anyone to join instead of just buying a bit of cloth in Chiangmai… just go and make your own … it is magical !

  3. In the beautiful gardens of the Ramming Lanna tea rooms, I was given thorough tuition on tie dying, including where indigo comes from, how the environmentally dye is made, and examples of about 20 different patterns that can be achieved, and what you have to do to achieve those patterns.I then chose 2 styles that I was allowed to experiment with, using a small and a large piece of cotton. We then dyed my endeavours, and after about half an hour, we undid my tying, rinsed them several times, and admired my creations whilst they dried. Brilliant – and lovely souvenirs.

  4. I scheduled the tie dye class for my mom and I without know much about the company, and I was completely blown away. We learned so much about traditional Thai craft and were able to create such beautiful patterns. I could not recommend this highly enough. If you have any interest in fabric craft this is a must do in Chiang Mai.

  5. I recently returned to Chiang Mai [Nov 2022] and found that Cotton Farm have started running their Tie-Dye courses again. I have done 2 courses with them in the past and found them to be the best value in terms of what you learn in a 2 hour course, especially considering the quality of the items that you make and take home with you. Teachers are very knowledgeable and well prepared for a variety of students at different levels, the location is convenient, beautiful and historic. Just book, turn up, I guarantee you will be amazed at what you can create even if you are a complete beginner.

  6. I have just been back to Cotton Farm after a few years away from Chiang Mai and found that they are still running their wonderful tie-dye courses where in a few hours [even if you are a beginner] you can create and take home a useful and beautiful article. Their workshops are close to the old city in a beautiful garden and their teachers speak very good English. They do beginners and intermediate classes and it an be an individual, family or group experience. Professional and fun!

  7. Brilliant tie dye workshop, in beautiful surroundings, we were very proud of the fabrics we created (much to my surprise as a complete novice!). Very friendly and clear help and advice from our expert tutors.

  8. what an amazing experience! I enjoy the class a lot and highly recommend this workshop to one who love to explore something new in your stays in Chiang Mai

  9. Hidden treasure in Chiang Mai. We learned some time dye method and took home 2 pieces each of unique cloth. Highly recommend this activity rain or shine.

  10. I loved the tie dye workshop! Kung made learning the art of tie dye very easy and provided us with lots of information on the art and process of weaving too. It was a relaxing experience and I was really happy with my designs. I would totally recommend this activity if you’re in Chiang Mai and want to do something creative. The setting for the workshop was in the garden of Raming Tea House which was really beautiful too!
