A newish temple but nice to visit and quiet, off the beaten track. There’s not much shade so bring some sun protection while wandering around the grounds.
Wat Dab Phai is a temple in the North-East of the old city of Chiang Mai. Most notable for it’s beautiful corbie-gable. The white Buddha statue in the front is worth remarking. All in all this temple appeals quite elegant.
I found this Wat while rambling around the Old City. It was an active temple with a celebratory essence, beautiful and elegant, colorful and sacred. Monks were entering the complex, and other younf monks were tending to the gardens.
The façade is intricate. Pillars are well decorated. Paintings and statues are brilliant. The ambience is quiet.
Probably the most colorful of the temples I visited, the fact of this one has a strong mix of green and blue to offset the gold rather than the usual red, which was a pleasant change. Inside, theres a nice collection of golden buddha statues, with a nature themed painting serving as a backdrop, something else I didnt see anywhere else but added even more color.
