  1. Small wat but packed with interest. Numerous small temples and statues hidden amongst diverse trees and plants including the cannonball tree revered by Budhists. Unusual, colourful birds like the Blue Magpie inside an enclosure next to the monk’s quarters as well as in the tree canopy despite being in the middle of the city.

  2. After my walk on the Nawarat Bridge and following the flow of the one way street heading towards the old city, I came across this temple, which the locals and the temple call Wat Upakut. (Even on Google its called by the right spelling) The main entrance is located along Tha Phae Road but they have the side entrance along Changkla Road (Where the Night Bazaars will be)I didn’t think that it was a small temple but it wasn’t a large one either. For me it was like medium to small. There is a much larger temple called Wat Buppharam located further along Tha Phae Road. But this temple’s architecture was pleasant and the walk inside was also a relief from the searing noon sun.The architecture inside is what one would normally see in most of the Wats you come across in Thailand. Though I did spot one where the roof had what look like tigers or some cat lined up on the roof which I thought was nice. The overall visit was pretty okay.

  3. Very nice Wat with unique water features with Koi. It was under renovation when I visited in March, I will visit again next year!

  4. it is beautiful temple with intricate designs. the walls are currently under renovation. i think it is spelt as U-pakut temple. it is close to the Ping river. it has white and gold stupa.

  5. Not many Buddhist people know where they can pray and show their respect to Upakhut Buddha in Thailand. No need to travel to Myanmar anymore. Wat Upakhut is located in the center and a walking distant to Chiang Mai night market. You can find a peaceful moment to pray and enjoy Lanna architecture and discuss about Buddhism with knowledgeable monks who is always friendly and always welcome everybody.

  6. First saw the Wat at night when visiting the Chiang Mai night market. But it was closed so we went back the next day.Certainly not one of your grand large Wat, but still worth a visit if in the area (conveniently located at the end of the nightly night market).

  7. Very quiet and atmospheric when we came here. No other tourists so feels less “Thai-Disney” than a lot of the more overrun ways. Nice murals.Allows time for contemplation. No fee for entry so I’m sure leaving a small donation would be appreciated.

  8. It’s near the main road but it’s quite peaceful inside the temple. It’s only a small temple but i think it’s suitable for getting away from busy street for a while. There’s only small parking.

  9. It’s easy to find because it’s on the corner where Thapae Road and Charoen Luang Road, where the Night Bazaar is located, intersect. Most of the other temples I visited on weekday mornings were quiet, but this one was lively. It was nice and beautifully decorated.
