Chao Por Lak Muang Khon Kaen Shrine is perched on a picturesque hilltop overlooking Thepharak Road In front of Khon Kaen Municipality Office, 40000, Thailand
Khon Kaen city had done a fabulous job of illuminating the Shrine, Pillar and gardens at night. It is nice to visit daytime, but definitely comes into its own at night. The shrine of course is still a religious building and visitors should act and dress appropriately. Not to be missed.
I visit Khon Kaen for several time and everytime come to this place…Around the shirne plant the flowers and light. Beautiful when open the light at night.
A very beautiful shrine. Glad I had the opportunity to see it. Very quiet in the morning. I will come back.
This would only be worth a few minutes to visit, but still well worth going there. It’s well worth the photo opportunity!
Just like any city in Thailand, there is a city Shrine and Khon Kaen is no exception. Thai visitors to a city tend to look for the city “Shrine” to worship or to pay respect for good luck. If you are tourist, it is a place for photo opps. Spend sometime to learn how Thais or believers react to the Shrine to learn about Thai and local culture. The Shrine is located near the heart of the commercial and nightlife of Khon Kaen just opposite to the Municipal building and a short walk from the train station. Great place for photos.
Just a block away from the Pullman, a small but interesting shrine. Nice surrounding park that is relaxing with adjacent traffic. Pretty at night with lights in the trees that stay on all night.Come to pray respect during the day and revisit again at night to see the colored lights around the shrine. It is really beautiful and not too busy as the one in Bangkok.
Idealy located for a short rest , its place is right in the middle of the city, beautiful temple at night
Khon Kaen’s city Shrine with delightful gardens, statues and the city pillar itself within the temple. There are worshipers here day and night, but if you are simply a tourist, it is a peaceful place offering great photo opportunities – particularly at night. The buildings, statues and trees are brightly illuminated at night. It is located just a short walk from the central ‘farang’ area and Pullman hotel.Highly recommended, especially after sunset.
I followed advice from reading reviews and visited at night time when everything was lit up. There was even a large screen in the car park area where a movie was being shown. I only spent about 30 minutes walking around taking a few photos. Certainly worth the effort.
Great experience in Thailand, must recommend this place, this city and the whole isaan for an “off the battered tracks” trio
