  1. This was the best experience we had with elephants in Thailand. The elephants looked very happy with no chains and eating almost all the time. The baby elephant was so cute. We really enjoyed feeding them, walking with them, hugging them, washing them. It seems they are treated well. I highly recommend.

  2. Had an absolutely wonderful day at this sanctuary. We fed the elephants, walked with them through the forest and the most amazing part was taking a mud bath with them and washing them clean in the river. The staff were very loving with the elephants and you could tell that the elephants love them as well. Many other sanctuaries had to drive their guests here to see Dido, the three-month old baby elephant. So why not just book an amazing day with this awesome sanctuary instead?

  3. It is hard to find a place where you can meet elephants and keep you conscience clear at the same time. Here you can enjoy an amazing experience (a baby elephant! How cool is that??) of seeing these fabulous creatures from up close (you can hug them, feed them, wash them – if they let you) which are treated with kindeness and respect. Elephants are happy, well-fed, with a lot of freedom, and therefore they are calm and friendly – and this makes all adventrure not only memorable, but safe as well. We HIGHLY recommend this particular place! Be responsible – and teach your children responsibility – while having a tons ( haha ) of fun!

  4. Amazing!! . Small group and unrushed experience to hang out with elephants. Staff were cool and easy going. Favourite activity of our trip.

  5. Beautiful place with a great guide, we really enjoyed this experience and will remeber it forever. My dream to see elephants came true!

  6. There is nothing negative to say about this place. It was a five-star experience as all the other reviews share. We learned so much and actually got to be a part of a typical caregiving day for the elephants (making their food, medicine, helping them bathe) – This experience was probably the most expensive outing we did in Thailand but it was worth every penny.

  7. The half day trip with elephants (WITH NO RIDING) is a close 1hour drive from Chiang Mai only. Nevertheless we were deep in a Thai jungle and got a very authentic experience which was incredible! The experience with the elephants was one of the best ones we had with animals and definitely the best trip in Chiang Mai!!! The experience DOES NOT include riding but that’s because hooks are used to pierce the skin of those wonderful, gentle and friendly animals so this experience is really humane in comparison to a lot of the “pretend sanctuaries” from big companies who are highly promoted on TripAdvisor. In this experience you are guaranteed to have an unforgettable time with close interaction with the elephants in a very small group (it was just the 2 of us in fact). We prepared elephant food, fed them, interacted with them and bathed them! It was great fun! We also received tasty Pad Thai that’s included in the trip. The owner of Authentic Thai Elephant sanctuary took many pictures of us with a great camera and our camera as well! Some of those I’ve added to this post.Don’t think twice just book the tour, we were really happy with it and it was one in a lifetime experience 🙂

  8. We got picked up from our hotel and drove approx 1.5 hours to a small village in the Jungle to the elephant sanctuary. Our group was very small which included 4 people and two tour guides. The sanctuary was amazing, lots of space for the elephants – they really are happy! The elephants are treated very well and are not ridden or are chained etc. We spent alot of time feeding, patting, walking and bathing the elephants!Full day experience from approx 8am arriving back in Chaing mai around 5.30pm – would reccomend!

  9. Rocky and I had an amazing time at the Elephant Sanctuary. We went during the rainy season, and it was the perfect temperature weather wise. We lucked out with no rain, and since the sanctuary is still very new, we had the whole tour to ourselves. The elephants are clearly well cared for. One elephant, Lamyai, was rescued from an old company that used hooks for tourists to ride her, and the sanctuary has given her a better life with a baby elephant named Meechok. We were worried about supporting the mistreatments of elephants in general, but our friend Brittany did a lot of research and found this sanctuary. We basically followed the normal everyday schedule of the elephants, without disrupting them from their routines. The sanctuary was such a peaceful experience and the elephants seem really happy. We chose the One Day Elephant Sanctuary package. What you can expect from the package:-Personal pick up from your hotel and to the sanctuary and drop off back to your hotel-Feeding the elephants-Making food for the elephants-Personal full meal with fruits for lunch, and water bottles provided! They cooked green curry and cut up sweet pineapples for us-An hour hike around the sanctuary to walk the elephants after you feed them-Brushing and bathing time with the elephants-Photographer provided for taking pictures of your whole experience and uploading them on Facebook for you to download!-Excellent service with an amazing staffAside from our package Thom and Benz went above and beyond for me. Brittany gave me Thom’s number, and I contacted Thom directly and he booked my reservations for me. I was worried about my hearing aids getting wet from potential rain or bath time with the elephants, so Thom made a pit stop and bought me shower caps! 😂 During our trip out to the sanctuary, the roads were too winding for me that I was getting carsick. They made sure to make me as comfortable as possible, and kept checking in with me to see if I was ok or if I needed a break. They were so sweet and really took care of us.Thank you so much Thom, Benz, and the Karen village for giving us an unforgettable experience and something to remember for a lifetime. ♥️

  10. The Elephant Sanctuary was an unique experience, the staff was very attentive and very pleasant, we did a lot of activities with the elephants and enjoyed every moment of it. Highly recommend for those who wish to have a special day with these four sweet giants and meet amazing people!
