One way, 09.00, Koh Lipe to Koh Lanta. This journey can be direct with Bundhaya or indirect with other operators, a slower trip dropping off and picking up people in Muk, Kradan, Ngai etc. Our direct boat set off on time and took 2hr 45min arriving early. Check in at the Bundhaya beachside office was quite simple. A single desk for all destinations. A luggage tag for your bag, a sticker for your shirt and a boarding pass to get on the right boat, all colour coordinated for your destination. Wait on the beach, in shade at that time of day, and out comes a staff member. She shouts the destination, holds up the colour card for that particular destination and you board in order of check in. All actually well organised. Free seating on board, arrive at Koh Lanta. Baggage for yellow tags placed inside the pier for Lanta passengers, red for onward destinations to be collected and wait for an hour to reboard for Phi Phi and Phuket. Would use them again without hesitation.
Really easy experience! Caught 2 ferries with these guys. Went like clockwork and really helpful. Even got an earlier ferry cos they had space!
Went from koh lipe to koh mook and koh mook to koh phi phi. Late … exactly 45 min. So just update schedule. Shore staff awful in koh mook. Show up half hour early plus 45 min late no cover Shore staff couldn’t take his face outta phone. No water offered no shelter. Not impressed. Boat crew great!!!
Our boat literally didn’t bother to collect us despite us checking in half an hour earlier than departure, as instructed. Nothing turned up and we were told the reason was the captain had “checked the onboard passengers for their tickets, and didn’t see any for our pier” (Koh Mook) so he just didn’t bother coming – without thinking to check for any bookings on his manifesto for the people he was supposed to pick up! We were told we had to wait for the next boat. Then we were told the next boat we had waited for and been promised would take us direct to Lipe now wasn’t going to come either, it had decided to go past. Then we were told now we had to go for lunch, and just accept losing hours of our day, before being put on a boat in another two hour’s time. They would pay for lunch, but only at one specific place. So we’ve spent the entire day waiting at a pier and being dragged around the island in a grand cluster f***, being lied to by smiles that all have joints burning down in their corner.Laughably, this is the best rated of the speedboat companies and why we booked with them. We’re now double booking every trip with different companies to try and make sure at least one arrives near departure time… we have a flight to catch next. Pray for us…
These ones gave us a boat equipped with live jackets and individual seats when heading to the island. BUT, on the way back, we didn’t get the same boat. It was a different one without a live jacket and with benches for seats. The “captain” on the way back was riding that boat to hell. He was also in a mood because he kept knocking on his window to remind a tourist that they would fall off the boat if they went up the deck. We arrived safely, but I feared for all our lives throughout the ride back.
Used this company to take the speedboat from Phi Phi to Koh Lanta. Booked in advance on 12Go. Check in at Tonsai Pier was smooth and we were able to leave our luggage there.Journey was largely smooth, most chaotic part was departing from Phi Phi with nobody giving any clear instructions. You also had to move your own luggage from the check in stand to the boat
They have no business operating speedboats with no life jackets or seat belts. If you call throwing a whole bunch of people around like rag dolls. They don’t care for your safety. The driver is a lunatic, who has no awareness on how to operate a vessel with people. If you wanna save yourself a trip to the hospital or a chiro. Opt for the slower ferry to your destination. This s*it show for a service is a nightmare. Would not recommend families, elderly or anyone for that matter to use them! -minus zero
I see some reviews that say choppy ride, no regard for safety, no life jackets. Come on. There are life jackets on every boat. And just because you are a banter weight and can’t take a little bit of choppy sea has nothing to do with the quality of the company. If you can’t take choppy sea you need to be smart enough on your own to book the slower ferry and not the speedboat genius. They were affordable, on time and quick transportation as promised.
Terrifying trip from Koh muk to Koh lipe, wind picked up to 25kph, captain should never have taken the boat out, people being physically ill and at one point we stopped for an engine failure to one of the outboard motors, never again !
We used Bundhaya to go from Phuket to Koh Lipe (and a different provider for the return). Whilst I concur with all of the reviews about the comfort when compared to other providers this was better. The boats are all the same for all providers but the staff at Bundhaya were better and we arrived on time. When changing boats they had labelled which island our bags were going to and they made sure they were moved (the other company didn’t but they didn’t tell us so we nearly left without our luggage, thank goodness we noticed!).One of our party needed additional help getting in and out and the staff were lovely and patient. They had extra steps so that instead of one huge step it was three smaller, again the other company didn’t do this. Having said all of this if we could have taken a slower ferry to the island we would have for a comfier journey.
We booked tickets through hotel. Company has really bad organisation prior departure making us about 25 minutes late.Just after departure the gearbox of 2 engines failed. After a little mechanical work we were able to proceed.30 minutes later the boat stopped mid-way., in the middle of Malacka ocean. It was starting to smell burnt. Now one of the engines that wasn’t failing before had to be switched off. Some difficulties to get other engines in drive. Now we are going by 3 engines out of 4, until the next one brakes. This is not a solid company with crappy boats. If you read this before buying a ticket, pick an other company. If you are reading it after buying you are probably experiencing proplems with your trip.
Important to understand that this is a Thai speedboat – it’s not designed to be comfortable and does not have seatbelts or cushioned seats. They are designed to move people quickly from one island to another – it’s definitely a no frills experience (just like every other Thai speed boat) They do have life jackets though – every time I have taken the boat there have been enough for all, and they are in good condition. Is it a rough ride? Yes, if the sea is rough. It’s open ocean so it can get very choppy. We usually take the larger ferry when the weather isn’t great. For a Thai speedboat these guys are pretty professional. Yes, it can be chaotic at the pier…but again, thats just the way Thai piers are. Don’t expect luxury, take sea sickness tables before you board and enjoy the ride!
it is a horrible bumpy ride. even if the sea is calm. it hurts.if you sit at the front. They could have push it a little less. Most people sit siteways. The seats are rigid, hard edges, not soft.
The boat itself has good infrastructure, but unfortunately, the onboard team was unprepared and unprofessional. Upon arriving in Koh Lanta, the captain caused an accident by crashing the boat into the mangroves due to lack of attention while steering. After the accident, the crew’s behavior was unacceptable. They were laughing, smoking despite the strong smell of gasoline caused by the crash, and even taking pictures of the distressed passengers while the boat remained stuck. This level of disregard for safety and the well-being of passengers was shocking. The support provided was abysmal, and the crew treated what could have been a very serious incident as if it were normal. I cannot recommend this service to anyone seeking a safe and reliable transfer.
