  1. Only drove by==TOO many monkeys — destructive thieves any packages in the back of a pickup truck they steal– rip off weather stripping on vehicles– eat y defecate EVERYWHERE!!! of course they have no problem showing affection to the other monkeys– primate husbandry. Not cute monkeys–animals– basic instincts y needs to be seen–observed. Best to stay away– would not be surprised if they start attacking people.

  2. Very interesting area.Standing in front of the Lop Buri train station.Easily to visit.Huge & look very old.

  3. This historic site is truly the highlight of Lop Buri. In relatively good condition and on a large ground you can enjoy the Khmer ruins without being disturbed by the monkeys. A must-see on Lop Buri!

  4. This is the biggest and most important ruin of the city. Its just opposite the rail station. It opens at around 830 in the mornign and closes at around 530 in the evening. There is an entrance ticket of 150 baht for foreigners and 50 baht for Thais. The best time to go here is the early morning and evenings. You can roam around and explore the place at leisure.

  5. This is well worth the 50 Baht entrance fee. The ruins are extensive and well maintained, no one was there during my visit, so I pretty much had the place to myself. I enjoyed clambering over the walls and happening upon broken statues and other shattered remains. They show the close connection to the Khmer ruins of Angkor.

  6. This site has everything going for it. It is easy to access being just across the street from the train station. It has excellent ruins with some fine carvings. Most importantly, it is monkey free. The site is small enough to cover in an hour and surprisingly there were not so many people there even during the Christmas holiday season (access was free then).

  7. Usual 50 baht to get in for tourists.Virtually no-one there. Impressive monument.Across the road is the railway station with a steam locomotive outside. Next to the station is another old wat (Wat Bandai Hin, free).Disappointingly, the Wat Phra Si Ratana Maha That is not lit at night, whereas the other one is.A short walk past the railway station and crossing the tracks brings you to Wat Nakorn Kosa (also floodlit)

  8. Visiting Wat Phra Si Ratana Maha That was a pleasant experience after the dirty and chaotic areas of the city overrun by monkeys. The grounds of this ancient site are clean and very well maintained. The Khmer-style ruins are impressive, although not extensive. There were only a few others there when we visited. Entry prices are 10 baht for Thais, 50 baht for resident foreigners, and 150 baht for non-resident foreigners. As with many historical sites in Thailand, this site has very little signage in English, which is a pity as the history and architecture would be of interest to many foreign visitors.

  9. The ruined temple was well maintained. The entry was free for the 60 year old seniors and over. The main hall was nice. We parked our car at the train station.

  10. These ruins can be seen from the pathway that surrounds the compound so there is no need to go in, at least there wasn’t for me as i had seen enough ruins for the day. There are no monkeys here.
