12 of us played the new Jungle course and the highland courses.we thought that the highland was very good and is very good but the Jungle amazed us.we will be playing again 2016
I was told that this is an amazing golf experience and boy were they right. We played the Highland Course in a 2 ball scramble – shot 79 gross nett 64.4 -did not win but had a great time with my partner Buzz Light-year. Every hole is exceptional but some are just unbelievable – especially the Stairway to Heaven and the 14th. If you are in Thailand you must play this course – said to ne the most difficult in Thailand – but if you listen to the caddies and are straight then its just very tough. Cant wait to go back and play the Jungle Course. Overall condition was very good – faclities are fine. Only complaint was they charged 1000 baht for my non playing partner on the buggy. My new flop technique worked at last LOL
When you arrive you have to think the worst. The facilities and not the most modern, very little English is spoken. However, clearly money is spent of the golf courses. So many people out working on them! Anyway, played the Highland Course – absolutely stunning! The views are breathtaking, the birds and the butterflies are amazing, the course maintenance is perfect. It is an amazing test of golf. You can’t just take a drive out on every tee. A lot of positional shots where you need to trust the caddy on distance. The greens are huge, so be prepared for putts of over 100 feet. However, be prepared for deliberate pockets of rough, rocks, bunkers and even water in the middle of the greens! It truly is a beautiful course, a wonderful test of golf, and simply a great place to play.
Wangjuntr resort golf courses are worth the 11/2 -2 hour drive from Pattaya , possibly similar from Bangkok. This is about 1 hour further than most courses around Pattaya but worth it. Accomodation wise I went for 2 days and chose the hotel room at 1300 baht . The Safari cabins at 1000 baht were a bit tired looking. Chalets are available for rental if you have a family . Room and cleanliness was excellent. Food was good quality in a relaxed casual dining area, certainly not an upmarket restaurant. Bring your own spirits if beer is not your drink. Now the wow factor for us golfers. Highland golf course was fantastic. Lots of really great testing holes with some beautiful elevated teeing of areas. Watch out for the water hazard and bunker in the middle of a couple of par 5’s. We also played Jungle course which was excellent but not quite the wow of Highlands. There was some dear running through the course. We played low season and at 6000 baht for 2 nights accomodation , golf caddy and cart I think was good value. Food was extra but very affordable. Caddies are mainly Cambodian with some speaking Thai but we’re good. I would recommend this even if it was a day visit . You want be disappointed but Highland is a good test.
We played the Highland Course which seems to be the best of the courses in the Wangjuntr Golf Park.Very interesting course in very hilly rural area. Raw beauty with some great holes, difficult course. Some holes play uphilllike in the Alps. Maintenance not so good. To get to the course you must take the bus from the club house. Club house gives run down impression but locker room/shower very clean. Surprisingly good Thai food at the simple restaurant in the club house. All in all a true test of your golfing skills. And a much more interesting course than the manicured courses in the Pattaya area like the Siam Country Club courses. Bring some golf balls with you.We had male caddys, cart path only.Surprisingly high green fees for the remote location, green fee + cart fee (compulsory) + caddy fee + tip = THB 5.000 (= Euro 130). The Thai food, however, was included. Check their promotions, you may find a much better deal.Anyway, for those who love a golfing challenge, the course will be highly satisfying.
The four 18-Golf courses are excellent. The Jungle Course and the Highland Course are hard and beautiful. The views are amazing. The restaurant at the club is good. The hotel is ok. The staff is friendly and helpful.
fantastic golf course with amazing vistas…sorry to say that the facilities are are not worthy of such a golf course. Especially for the fees they are charging, the restrooms are in dire condition.
There are 3 great courses to choose from. Highlands, Jungle(water every hole) and the Valley course. each course has its own peculiar attractions. The Valley course is more traditional of the three but the views on the highland course are amazing. I wont spoil it but the 14th(i think) is a real standout. If you dont trust your swing this is where it will be found out.
What shall I say. We played this week the Highland and the Jungle course.First, we were sent to Highland as Jungle was closed on this day. Teetime around 12:30h.We had two cars and two caddies as the course is not walkable.About 100 Koreans stayed in Wangjuntre Lodge. The play mostly 36 holes and more according to the caddies…..So I got given a caddy with no uniform, smelly in all aspects (even alcohol) and he had no idea about golf. For long shots he brought me SW,PW etc. You are only allowed to stay on the pathes with the carts and so you need to know what to hit when leaving the cart. When we arrived at the Highland course on top of the plateau about 80 Koreans had their Lunch. They played already 18 holes in the morning!! Suddenly they were all over the golf with their carts in 4 to 5 balls! Nightmare! The next day we came back at 9:30h to play the Jungle. The reception told in a very limited English that the Koreans play the Valley course! For god sake! But we were left alone for 2 holes and suddenly Koreans jumped out of the Jungle with their carts too………….!Imagine, we played hole 9 were on the green as a (2) two ball. 5 carts came from hole No 5 and went straight to hole 10 as a 5ball!!? Any question?Koreans seem to have never passed a handicap test nor read the book from Yves TonThat about golf rules and etiquettes!!They let us play on as the caddy talked to the other caddies! The same day we even saw a 8ball with Thai on the course!Wangjuntre Golf seem to have no commen rules that apply to everyone! As on many courses around Pattaya you come across Koreans that play in 4 balls and more! The courses are very nice but they should teach their caddies a basic English and some golf rules. You can not even avoid the Korean communities as the start playing at 7am and finish by sunset! The same experience we did have in Eastern star! Nightmare too. The stay in the hotel on the golf and play from sunrise to sunset in 4 tom5 balls.
We played the Highland course in February for a very competitive rate thanks to pattaya Sports Club. The golf park is about 2 hours from Pattaya in the middle of nowhere. The layout of the Highland course is amazing, the condition – however – was sad. Fairways and teeboxes ripped apart by wild boars, fairways very dry.Caddies were friendly and knowledgeable.Clubhouse appears a little rundown.Lots of animals on the course.
nice courses but repairs are under way and the jungle course is closed. The place is over run with Koreans-5 ball groups playing from dawn to dusk and very slow with it. if you are a 2 ball or hate 5 hour rounds forget the place in high season dec-feb. try march onwards for a good golfing experiance. hard courses but would not go again in high seson.
