Khao Sok Travel is perched on a picturesque hilltop overlooking Thailand
Just returned from our honeymoon in Thailand and one of the highlights of the trip was staying at the floating bungalows in Khao Sok national park. The other surprise and highlight was our private guide, Apple who was beyond amazing! (Unfortunately I don’t know her last name) She is one of the kindest, sweetest and hardest working person I’ve ever met. She treated my husband and me like royalty and made sure our every need was met. When she took us on the waterfall hike, she gave us the option to walk along the side of the waterfall or to walk up the waterfall, which we chose to do. It was a bit of a challenge, but the experience was fabulous. She also took a ton candid photos of us during our stay and gave them all to me before we parted. I swear, it was like having a professional photographer with us! I am so grateful to have met Apple and so lucky she was our guide. If you book through Khao Sok travel, be sure to request Apple for your guide!!!!
If you’re looking for a guide who is not only knowledgeable but also an absolute joy to be around, Po is your guy! He led us on unforgettable boat safaris and a jungle hike, always in high spirits and eager to share his deep passion for flora and fauna.Being a local with decades of experience as a guide, Po’s expertise truly shines through. He has an incredible eye for detail, spotting wildlife that we might have otherwise missed. To top it off, he’s also an amazing photographer and helped us capture some stunning shots of our adventure. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide—Po made our trip truly special. Highly recommended!
Overall we had a good time with the Khao Sok Travel company. The booking process was difficult when trying to pay securely from the UK. We were doing the 3 day tour (2 nights) first night was a stay at the floating bungalows and the 2nd night was at the magical mountain resort. Both were amazing places to stay and staff were lovely. Tours were well organised and tour guides Pim (day 1) and Bon (day 2) were absolutely lovely people. In fact we asked Bon not to take us to the elephant bathing as these places are unethical and go against what we believe. Khao Sok Travel company should remove this as an option!Bon took us on an amazing hike instead and incorporated some night time wildlife spotting.Communication with Khao Sok Travel was somewhat disjointed and there were points where we were left uninformed. Also, for what we paid I would say it was slightly overpriced. Hence the 4 star review and not 5.
SCAM – Paid a very expensive tour on their website , never got picked up, impossible to contact, either by email, text or call.
Khao Sok is a must visit, it doesn’t matter if you’re not a big nature lover, I personally guarantee that you will be one, after you experience what we did 😀 Accomodation:We stayed for 3 days and 2 nights at the Laguna Chiewlarn and we regretted the fact the we didn’t book the 4 days and 3 nights experience. The staff at the Laguna Chiewlarn was amazing, super accommodating, smiley, friendly and very hardworking. We were super happy with the bungalow assigned to us we booked a Deluxe Bungalow with Lakeview waking up to an out of a movie scenery (needed a few minutes for two days in a row just for my brain to grasp the beauty of what my eyes were seeing). We were being offered breakfast lunch and dinner at the Laguna before and in between the activities. We still struggle to choose which was the best meal. Honestly, the quality of the food was superb and tasty and the staff is really helpful regarding allergies/intolerances just give them a heads up in advance. Activities:The first activity was little bit later than the check-in. We explored a cave which we had to hike until a point through the jungle. After the hike we took a raft made from bamboo by the locals in order to cross the lake and reach the cave. Next day we had morning safari and we were lucky enough to see wild elephants by the shore and monkeys.Later on we went hiking to a waterfall, where we had a cold/ refreshing dip and returned to our accommodation for some swimming and kayaking at the lake.We would like to thank from our hearts the staff and management of The Laguna Chiewlarn for their amazing hospitality and our guide Pu.If you are lucky enough to have for your guide Kreetah (Pu) like we did, there’s no way of not enjoying your experience. The guy is a LEGEND. He is super fun, experienced, knowledgeable and has the best vibes and he’s a very skillful photographer as well. We can’t thank you enough🙏 We will be coming back soon!
We booked a ‘luxury’ tour with Khao Sok Travel and what we received was noooot luxury in the slightest. We booked for 4 adults on the 3D2N tour and when we were picked up we were told the company had booked us 1 family room, rather than 2 double rooms. On day 1 we went to see elephants and we were pretty put off by the whole situation. If we’d known where was booked then we’d not have gone – but you’re not told ANYTHING, and you just need to go with the flow. We then went on a bamboo raft, which again seemed super dodgy and unofficial. But we were given a cup of coffee at the end which was good I guess?…Throughout the 3 days, we didn’t have a guide. When someone did turn up to take us to the floating accommodation she didn’t really have a clue. We were essentially left to our own devices and were told nothing about the area. Everything seemed to happen by luck and we weren’t told anything about our itinerary, what we needed or when we’d be going. We were meant to have a private boat and instead we shared with 6 other people, and we had the only boat without a cover so we were absolutely soaked. Hey ho. If we didn’t laugh we’d cry – and we met multiple other people in the same situation with this company. Again, tried to put us in a family room, and food at the floating accommodation was just whatever they had cooked that day. No choice which is ok usually, but when you’re on a luxury trip… Not so much. While Khao Sok is beautiful, and we had fun in spite of the situation, we think that the tour company took the mic. We didn’t get what we paid for and would advise others to look elsewhere or try to book direct with the accommodation instead of going through third parties. Would not recommend.
We came expecting a paradise on earth with good weather, and well the only thing missing was the good weather, everything else was perfect! The drivers were so nice and helpful but who really made this an incredible experience was Apple, with our contagious laugh and good humor, she was with us all the steps of the way. Bought us fruit and food, made the trip with us, helped us with tips of how to eat Thai food, taught us some words and expressions in Thai, even gave us food to feed the fish. She also wanted to learn some words in our language and was always caring for us, was a really good person. Our boat driver, I think his name was Hoy but he could’ve been Tarzan, was also amazing! He knew so much about the jungle and the animals, knew how to call them and even had a monkey friend called Lulu! Was always making us laugh and really liked to prank us in the jungle! What could’ve been an awful experience because of the rain it truly began an incredible experience because of this people and all the team at the lake houses.Thank you so much for this experience and memories!
We had an amazing guide Bon😊🫶 we can recommend to anyone who want a good hike and some good nature experiences. Thanks for the trip
My experience was amazing! Especially because of our lovely tour guide Apple. She made our stay in Khak Sok truly magical. With her kindness and laughter she made our weekend in the national park so special. She brought us to many beautiful places, we were lucky enough to see wild elephants on the morning boat safari and she always provided us with many snacks 😋 If you travel here, I truly hope you have a tour guide like Apple. She is the best! ❤️
Absolutely the worst tour company I’ve ever experienced.I’ve traveled to about 20 countries and have often taken tours in each, but I’ve never experienced such a terrible tour company or costumer service. I should’ve seen the red flags in the beginning. Communication was choppy, confusing and difficult. I saw bad reviews that I ignored, focusing on all the good ones.We did the 3 day, 2 night tour, which was one night in the jungle and one night on a lake. We were so excited about Khao Sok that we splurged and got one of their more expensive options. (All the options are priced differently based on which hotel combo you pick.) We had to pay upfront, and after payment, got no message or update at all. I had to contact him in order to arrange our pickup. Our first hotel was… not the one we paid for. The owner of Khao Sok Travel, Rachada, put us in a different hotel and claimed it was a mistake, trying to dismiss the fact that we were not in the hotel we booked. Only after I pointed out that the new hotel was much cheaper than the one we paid for, did he/she finally agree to refund us that difference. I later found a bunch of reviews claiming he did a similar thing to them, and puts people in cheaper hotels to take more of your money. Not a good start, but I tried to put it behind me. The “jungle trek” consisted of walking down a path in the park with about 50 other people. Our group was led by two boys, about 14 and 7, neither of whom really spoke English. The “exotic animals” they showed us were mostly spiders and crickets – not what we had hoped for. I saw more “exotic animals” on the streets of Bangkok. The next day, they hired a taxi driver to drive us to the pier. There was no guide who knew what we were doing or any plan. The taxi driver shrugged and left us in a parking lot, with no idea what was next. We finally met up with a guide, but there was no one to help with my mother’s suitcases as we walked in the pouring rain up and down stairs and across blocks. We reached the boats to take us to the floating hotel – and Rachada had only paid for the cheapest boat without a roof. There were empty boats with roofs to keep passengers dry, but our guide insisted we could only use the cheap, roofless boat, and so we had to sit in pouring rain for an hour on that boat ride. The boat driver opened a flimsy mesh top, but it didn’t help. All our luggage was soaked through, and we were all drenched by the time we reached the floating hotel. The worst was yet to come. We reached the floating hotel I had been so excited about – but it was nothing like the photos. The manager of that hotel explained that the one we booked, Issara, was not ready to be open to the public and was still under construction. He had notified Khao Sok Travel and refunded the money – but Khao Sok Travel never let us know, and never refunded our money. We learned that Khao Sok Travel had a history of ripping off customers and we were not the first. After the manager spoke to Khao Sok Travel, Rachada told his staff and the hotel manager that he’d refund us if we stayed, then later went back on his word and said he wouldn’t. He wouldn’t answer calls, the phone line doesn’t work, and he stopped answering his WhatsApp. The entire point of using a tour company is to make travel easier and to have a point person who can help you in complicated travel. Well, I can tell you that Khao Sok Travel will not help, and is more likely to be the source of your problems. If you need anything, you will suddenly be ghosted. The hotels you spent so much time picking out, will not be the hotels you get. We spent about $1300 dollars for two nights – an astronomical price in Thailand. What we got headache, disappointment, and a feeling that we got completely ripped off. Spare yourself. Go with anyone else.
We truly loved our time staying at the Laguna Chiewlan floating bungalows. It was so peaceful, we had the best views of the lake (in our opinion), the food was delicious, clean rooms/comfy beds and of course to top it all off, we had the best tour guide ever, YeeYee. From the very beginning he was inviting and looked after us, we soon became friends and all we did was laugh and have a good time together ☺️. We learned so much about the nature and history of the lake and he even taught us some Thai too! We felt very well taken care of. We enjoyed the activities like climbing up the waterfall, spotting wild elephants/other animals and even a visit to coral cave. Thank you Khao Sok Travel and most importantly YeeYee for an absolutely brilliant time. We had a blast ♥️
He had an incredible 1 night trip booked through Khao Sok Travel, including a stay at Praiwan Raft House. The national park is beautiful and we were lucky enough to see wild Elephants (and lots of other wildlife). Apple was our personal guide/host and was wonderful. She had a great sense of humour and made the whole experience very fun. She always went above and beyond to make sure we were happy and had everything needed. Would definitely recommend!
we took the Khao Sok travel package from the Khao Sok Travel. we initially stayed in the bamboo jungle resort and had an amazing local experience with our tour guide! he was with us every step of the way to ensure we had a great time. I loved the bicycling and cave exploration. my wife loved the bamboo boat cruise. next we went into Khao Sok park and met our tour guide M-Panuwat. he was simply a joy to be around, telling us about local customs. he toured us around amazing Khao Sok and we stayed at these accommodations that floated on water. it was a great experience!
We booked two activities with Khao Sok Travel, both as private tours for two people: Cheow LanLake & Diamond Cave tour on the first day (17th January 2025) and a full-day jungle trekking on the next day (18th January 2025). We had a very disappointing and upsetting experience that somewhat tainted our experience of this beautiful part of Thailand. We would not recommend Khao Sok Travel to anyone, just avoid this company! Before we booked, the communication with them was by email, and they replied straight away to any of our queries. After booking and paying, we emailed again to inquire about help with transfer from our accommodation to the meeting point for the lake tour, but they stopped replying despite sending several emails over 2 weeks. On the day before the lake tour, we finally managed to get hold of them after several whatsapp calls via a subsidiary company, and they did help us book a taxi to the meeting point at the lake. The lake tour itself was good, however the guide spoke no English so it was difficult to get information about the place. The next day we were supposed to meet a guide at 9 am for the full day trekking experience, but no one showed up. We whatsapped the company for about 1 h, but no reply. We managed to get hold of another company (website listed on the KhaoSok travel website), who initially said the guide will show up 1.5 hours late. We agreed to wait, but as the meeting time approached, the company whatsapped again to say we will now meet at 12.30 pm for a day and night trek until 9 pm. We were quite upset and explained to them that we specifically booked with them for a full day deep jungle trek as advertised on the website, and we were worried that night trekking was not going to be possible in the jungle, but they said it was going to be ok. Eventually we agreed, waited until 12.30, when the “guide” showed up. She spoke no English, except to say “bamboo cooking class” (which was also advertised on her pick-up truck) – from which we assumed she was offering a walk in the park with some cooking. We were very confused: she couldn’t possibly be our guide to the jungle, who explains flora and fauna as advertised on the website – she spoke absolutely no English at all, and it appeared her business was bamboo cooking for tourists. At this point, we refused the tour, as this was not what we had agreed & paid for. It was very disappointing for us.We managed to find a guide from the village and paid him for 4.5 hour tour. He initially took us to the Bang Hua Rad waterfall, about 3 km away. This was supposed to be the same “trek” that Khao Sok Travel was offering as a full day experience. It took us ~1 -1.5 hours to get there (with many picture stops along the way), this was not really deep jungle trekking but rather walking on a dirt track. The guide then took us further into the jungle for 1 h, but we were going to run out of day light so could not do much more. The guide explained that a full day jungle trekking could have gotten us to the Ton Khloi waterfall through the deep jungle, if we had the daylight. He did all this for a much better price than what we had paid KhaoSok travel. After this experience, we looked at several reviews of Khao Sok travel on tripadvisor, and they all detailed similar stories.
Nice service and very friendly people.Super beautiful place and great food too.Great communication from the staffs and fast response from WhatsApp. 👍👍
We loved every moment of it. We had a 3 day 2 night – 1 night in tree top hotel and 1 night in purvaree floating house. All staff was lovely, we got to go through the river with a bamboo raft and a guide. Care for, feed and swim with an elephant at a sanctuary (as animal lovers it was important it felt like they did it with love/care which they did) We also did a jungle trek at night where we saw many bugs, a snake and other animals. The tree house is such a beautiful location and vibe. Waterfall pool and huge mountain above the houses. Ones we arrived to khao sok stay we went kayaking and then for a boat safari at night, climbing a really beautiful waterfall. And hang in some lianas like monkeys 🙂 The third day we went for a sunrise with the captain and our tour guide Yeye which was really beautiful. We saw monkeys and tucan birds. The food that was included was top tier, 3 course meals and such a beautiful feast everytime. Last night we had a fried huge fish. Soup is always served with meals and really good fresh fruits. They provide cold water on the boatrides and we never went hungry or thirsty. The only feedback we would give is that the itenarary said a meetup point that was 1 h away by car (which they solved for us). Other than that they have a quick response time on whats app. 10/10 overall.
Boom was our tour guide and it made a fantastic difference. She’s bright, kind, and generous. She was always one step ahead when exploring the points of interest in Kha Sok so we avoided the large groups of tourists. This helped to make the most of our experience. On top of that, Boom is a fantastic conversationalist and we learnt from her culture and language. We highly recommend visiting Kha Sok accompanied by a marvellous tour guide as Boom.
We had 4 days/3night in Khao Sok on Ratchaprapha lake with our guide “Bat”. Bat was very keen to share his knowledge of this beautiful natural park. He is passionated with nature and wild life, during safari boat tours he was excellent to spot animals and I can say that after 3 times in Khao Sok, we saw for the first time Toucans, Monkeys and even wild Elephants. Bat took care of us with great attention, ask for Bat you will not be disappointed 😉
