RSM Academy is perched on a picturesque hilltop overlooking 23 Sukhumvit Road 2nd Floor, Jasmine Tower, 10110, Thailand
we dont mind to pay slightly higher price to have a private muay thai class in a better gym so we tried rsm academy. we are in group of 4 and hv basic body combat knowledge so we go for intermediate group private class that costs thb850 per person for 1.5 hrs. the 2 coaches know very basic english but can communicate. They are friendly but serious to ensure you play correctly. they let you tried punching bag, boxing 1 to 1 in ring that was amazing experience. Be prepared to sweat a lot but very fun taste of muay thai. highly recommend!
I’m not a fighting guy searching for some great work out in Bangkok apart usual gyms or studios. Luckily I found RSM at their branch close to Sukumvit Asoke junction at Jasmine Tower. Their other location is at Sukumvit Thonglor 13. RSM offers several levels of classes, either in groups or individual programs. You can also chose from a day pass to several options by time or frequency. The Jasmine Tower location is easy to reach via BTS or MRT with clean changing and bathroom facilities and lockers to store belongings. The staff is extremely friendly but be aware that their English skills are basic and some Thai language will definitely makes your life there easier. The 1 1/2 hrs sessions are a perfect mix of stretching, cardio and practice of different levels of strikes and kicks. Bandages and boxing gloves are provided but in case you plan to come regularly it’s more hygienic to buy your own staff. Everything you need can be purchased there at reasonable prices. They also offer discounts for regular customers. I go there 2-3 times weekly and after going thru some pain at the beginning I couldn’t imagine a better work out keeping the body in shape by having lot of fun with the RSM team. Highest respect of all Thai Boxers as most fights look so easy but exercising on your own you really understand how much training and fitness is needed to survive a 3 min round.
The RSM Academy at Seenspace offers very good training facilities, including a wide range of equipment (boxing ring, punching bags, battle ropes, TRX, weights etc). The personal training sessions with Nil are outstanding, pushing you to the limit and offering an amazing range of exercises. His extraordinary knowledge covers the most up-to-date trends; several intensive sessions are necessary to build strength and endurance. In addition to personal training, he specializes in Western boxing. His impressive fighting experience can help someone tremendously. The results are fantastic!I have also had many Muay Thai sessions, over a 2-week period, with an amazing team of Muay Thai professional trainers. Their dedication and fighting careers are impressive. The best is to allow them to teach you during a set of consecutive sessions. There was a visible progress from one week to another, the program was adapted to my skills and experience. All trainers shared their knowledge with extreme generosity. This was one of a kind experience, highly recommended to anyone visiting Bangkok. My heartfelt thanks to everybody!
The training was conducted in a small group of 4. We started off with warm up and some conditioning exercises before throwing punches and kicks. The conditioning was brutal I would say (as my fitness was not there). But hey that’s why you wanna get a real work out right? The instructors were really nice and will guide you along the way, even if I cant really kick or punch. Ladies do not be intimidated, as there were a number of female trainees on my day of visit.Price is reasonable at 550 baht for beginner class with different time slots. You can lookout other offers through their website.Location was a little deep into Thong Lor. But the nearby goodies compensated for it. Roast, After You, Audrey and some other hipster cafe, they are just nearby! You can also try out the other branch at Asoke.Go try it! BKK is not only about shopping!
This is a nice, clean Muay Thai gym in the centre of Bangkok.Probably not the best place to train if your aim is to be a fighter, but its a great workout and the trainers are friendly.Great location and reasonably priced.
RSM MT Academy was recommended to me by two different colleagues on separate occasions. I sent an email to RSM to get a quote of the pricing as well as checking online for schedules etc… to figure out what the options were. They have beginner and advance classes throughout the week and prices are a 499 and 799 Baht respectively. I also checked on the private one on one sessions which are at 1500 Baht. I ended up choosing the private one on one session and think it’s a great option for a great workout. Having a PT trainer means it’s gonna be a tough one but you will pat yourself on the back.I’ve had about 3 years MT lessons through group lessons and PT sessions but have not touched this for about 2 years. The trainers at RSM are good and think they are very good instructors and would recommend a private one on one even for a beginner. This means added time for them to properly train you the proper forms and stance as well as getting a lot of practice time.I saw a class of youngsters at a lesson shortly after I finished my training. Think they were only about 5 but it obviously looked they were having a great time.
Great place for a tourist to workout and burn off those calories. Trainer Nan was friendly and since there wasn’t anyone else I got a 1-to-1 session. Best to call before hand to book or at least to enquire. Take the BTS to Thong Lo station and then it’s about 5 min ride by bike.
RSM has now 3 studios, this one in thonglor, one in Jasmine City in Asok and one in Habito mall in Onnut.I tried the 3 and they are actually a bit different though some teachers seem to be teaching in all of them.Only Asok has AC (impossible to open windows), the others open their windows and use fans. In Asok and Thonglor classes last between 1:15 and 1:30 while in onnut each class lasts one hour but always have 3 rounds of face to face while the first 2 studios usually have 2 (3 when there are less students).Asok and Thonglor spend more time on exercises than actual muay thai, which is good for beginners as people need to first build stamina and strengthen their core before being able to last during face to face.Teachers change all the time, so it’s good if you want to try out slightly different styles.Typical class will have warm up, running, skipping, (lot of) abs exercises, muay thai movement practice alone or with the bag, 2-3 rounds of face to face with teachers (each round being followed by abs exercises) and 20 kicks by leg on a bag.About the studios facility, for toilets in Asok and Thonglor you need to go out of the studio, onnut changing room is big enough for one person at a time (for women at least). Asok class is sometimes completely packed (they even refused students once as there was literally no space anymore) while onnut has much less so you might get more advice and corrections in onnut than in asok or thonglor.Overall good experience! If you like sports and live in Thailand I think muay thai is a must-try and this studio gives good explanations to beginner students.Be aware that muay thai is supposed to be practiced barefoot. I was keeping my indoor tennis shoes as my knees are very weak but it is not supposed to be authorized… If you are prone to knees / wrists tendinitis, do more warm-ups than what the teachers ask you to do and/or wear specific protections.Enjoy the class!
It was my dream to come from India and learn Muay Thai at RSM Academy, so I plan a solo trip and visit Bangkok. I have been following RSM on instagram and FB. I used to wake up at home and watch a video every single day, read the timetable and dream of going there. The day I was walking to Habito Mall and it was in front of me, it was a dream come true, I was one step closer and the moment i reached the third floor- there I was. Meeting the instructors who according to me are stars in their own right, I have been a big fan of each of them (remember watching them on insta and FB and their website). I am a beginner, came thinking I have lot of strength as I have been a fitness freak, but hey this is a totally different ball game. I actually realized how much focus one needs and how much strength you need to jab, hook, kick, elbow……Its been 4 days 2 more to go….and I have surely had a memorable time here. The classes have made me stronger, my shoulders and arms feel so toned, its tough on the core and legs for sure with all the kicks. It is a kickass workout as it shoots your heart rate. Overall, if you have been doing kickboxing or combat in the air, try MUAY THAI @RSM Academy, it will change you as a person. I love having new experiences new friends!
Mixed feeling as I walked in: ‘damn, those Thai guys could knock me out with one punch’, followed by ‘damn, those girls look out of shape’. And that’s very much what the beginners’ class is like. If it is a quiet day, you might just have 1 or 2 others working out with you. On a busier day the gym may be full. Either way, you will have the chance to learn the fundamentals – first shadowing then on a bag, then finally finish up 1-on-1 with a guy who will lead you through some combos, and maybe just as you think you’ve got it, even catch a kick and put you on your butt. Very humbling and well worth 550 baht. Also on Guavapass. Thanks team RSM. Wish I had done this years ago.
