This entire tour, including the knowledgeable guide Don and the brilliant driver we had , was really very informative and jam packed with sites to see. My only concern was one or two of the stops that included animals and I wasn’t comfortable with this. But that’s my fault for not checking and they were very courteous about checking with us once we arrived at the stop if we wanted to participate or not. Other than the animal stops, it was really great seeing Phuket in the capable hands of our guide and would recommend the rest of the tour. The tiny buffet style lunch on the full day tour was very delicious and the staff at the quaint eatery were extremely friendly. Do make sure that you ask about full day or half day Tours depending on your level of interest and note that there are stops that include animals.
So, myself and my partner got picked up in khao lak, we understood it’s like 1hr 30 mins to 2hrs to get to Phuket (the big Buddha) so we expected that. we only got roughly 30-40 mins there, so it seemed rushed. We then got drive to another famous temple , which was really beautiful but again didn’t get long there and was back in the mini bus again. We then went to a cashew factory , which I was expecting a little more than we got. We literally got shown 2 people cracking the shell and then shown to the shop to buy some cashews… then back in the mini bus again to go to Phuket’s old town which is stunning ! However, we got out the bus , walked down a couple of streets and then back in the bus again. Went for lunch which was nice, then went to a rice farm for about 40 mins and back on the bus to ride home. It literally felt like the whole day was just spent in the mini bus.
My wife and I did the full day tour with Nung from Phuket explorer. Importantly Nung spoke very good and clear English. We were given ample time at each visit. Unfortunately the big Buddha was shrouded in mist but was still very impressive. The lunch was fantastic.I would reccomend this tour without hesitation.
We were a group of 7 who came together for the tour. It was a brief introduction to Phuket with stops at Karon View Point, The Big Buddha and Wat Chalong monastery, a cashew factory, a pearl center, Thai lunch and a visit to a farm to see natural latex produced etc. along with other farm animals.Apart from the day temperature being around 100f/38c making us all a bit lethargic, the tour guide Noy was full of enthusiasm explaining lots of things along the way from tour stop info to cultural insights.
We read the many reviews and decided to take the tour with this group. We don’t understand some of the negative reviews…but…We do support and understand the positive reviews. It was a great day. Nung (number one son) was awesome. He was a pleasure to be around and always had many informative things to tell us about. He answered our questions and was very engaging. Don’t hesitate take the tour. It’s worth it!.
It was a wonderful day tour. I Enjoyed every locationThe Tour guide was informative and happy.Thank you
Excellent tour with Mr Don as guide and Mr Rong driving very safely in at times hazardous road traffic. A fully comprehensive tour well explained and each member of the group assisted capably as needed. Mr Dons local knowledge is admirable and his English easily understood. Full day tour definitely recommended as the time spent at Phuket Old Farm is enlightening and enjoyable. The stop for lunch provided as with the best local food I have ever tasted and we can be a bit picky at times!Don’t hesitate to book. Memorable tour and well worth the money.
Morning tour meant we missed the crowds and the hottest weather. First stop Karon look out point for lovely photos of the island and ocean. Then big Budda – still being built, but a lovely viewpoint. Baby elephant stop – quick but cute. Wat Chalong – for close up look at the temple and its sculpture. Cashew nut factory – just shopping really, and honey factory – great to hold bees in your hands and see native versus european bees size. Only got honey ice cream here. Chinese temple. Phuket town – quick look at street with Portuguese architecture and shops. My verdict – this was a good trip for our young children as it was half day, stops weren’t too long, and it had culture and animals… down side – tea and coffee stop was at a pearl jewellers, cashew nut and honey stops were mostly to sell you things. Despite this, the daily got a glimpse of some new and interesting places and some lovely photo opportunities. A perfect tour if you are on a budget and lack time. PS – we booked online and saved half – likely because it is off season – but was much cheaper than booking at a tour office.
Did the full tour with Don,was recommended it at the Hotel (Intercontinental Phuket) and I also would recommend this tour, Don was informative , helpful and friendly we went to all the places advertised including Big Buddha, a lovely air conditioned bus with an excellent driver, yes there was a bit of driving but got to see the other side of Phuket through small streets seeing where people live etc.How else will you see Phuket if you don’t drive around ? Lunch was lovely and in a very relaxing environment with in the old farm, than watching how traditional rubber was made by an old 83 year old traditional Thai man . I felt it was value for money and a day well spent.
I’m not 100% sure I’m reviewing the correct company here. As per the previous reviewer this full day Phuket Explorer tour “The Phuket Explorer” was recommended by our hotel the Intercontinental in Kamala Beach ( orange brochure) and booked by them. All the T-shirts of staff along the way say Andaman Island Group. We were picked up first being most north, 7.45 am, then collected others at 2 stops around Patong. 7 on our tour in air conditioned van. First stop was not a viewpoint as on some reviews here but was the Big Buddha- amazing views from here. Then to a smaller Buddhist temple in Chalong. Not Wat Chalong as advertised, which our guide Weep said got very busy and hot. This was Wat Ladhi Wanaram aka Wat Tai, nearby. Interesting and beautiful. I was happy to do this one instead. Third stop cashew nut factory- also interesting, demo of hand opening with knife to get the nuts out. They do also have a machine as hand opening looks very labour intensive. Fun tasting different flavours. Looked at shop but didn’t buy- no pressure. Next stop by Old Phuket Town was the Sino-Portuguese 1903 mansion called Chinpracha House- beautiful old house still lived in upstairs by elderly family owner ( widow). Then took a walk around the main street of the town, old buildings nice but otherwise usual tourist tat for sale in the stores. Left after 12.30 to drive to Phuket Pearl store, again a tour and demo, interesting, a bit too long at the store though 2 women bought items. Good toilet stop. Finally were driven quite a distance north to the Old Phuket Farm. Arrived just before 2 pm for lunch. Delicious. Then a walking tour to see how they tap rubber trees and make rubber “cheese” ( mats) plus to a “Thai House” – not lived in, built for show where we saw traditional threshing of rice and then preparation of green curry spices. All good but a lot of standing about. Other reviewers mentioned stops with animals?- none here, no elephant rides, no monkeys getting coconuts, no water buffalo cart rides. We did see water buffaloes at the farm in passing. Our guide Weep ( his short name) had good English just a little hard to understand the accent sometimes and sometimes there was information overload! Driver Chat did well in heavy traffic. We were dropped back first just before 4 pm. A long and tiring day but good value.
