If you like 35 minutes dives and racing under water you have to book this trip. I do Similan Trips since almost 30 years but this obe was a nightmare. But let’s start with the good thins. Wonderful boat and super friendly Thai staff.Trip leader and dive master as unprofessional as can be. Just carring about their own comfort, as not to get stressed they to divesites as quick as possible without showing anything. Sign for saftey stop usually afer 36 minutes. As these trips cost quite a lot, they do not mention the national park fee ( I knew it but others not) and at the end the very best: the tell to customer how much tip the expect! Absolute cheekiness, because the two guides do not deserve any tip at all. The crew of course the do. But never, really never I heard on a boat trip how much I should give, and certainly not THB 4000!!On the first day at 5.30 in the morning, when the boat was already out on the Similans, I got accused not having payed the trip. Wow! This is very customer friendly. Use your brain before you speak out such accusations! Just wome up and get accused! Would the pick me up if the trip was not payed? When they finally got informed that the trip was payed the even not apoligized! (but asking tip at the end ha ha good sense of humor)Th is only one of many incidents oh the boat.If at least the dives would have been professional I would not mention such things, but if you have to come up with 90 bar left after 35 minutes on almost every dive, I am totally speechless. and disappointed. Over all if you were asked if you like small stuff and they put you in the other group. Before every dive they mention that the group before saw sharks, mantas or whatever, just to keep the customers happy and excited. The true is: If you are serious you don’t mentions this before every dive. What is there is there ….. no expectations. But this behavior only shows how unprofessional they are!No surely never again with this two guys! And please note I am talking about MV Parawa NOT MV Fasai. One last thing to mention: I forgot one fin on the boat somebody brought it to Patong. (I hadn’t even noticed it was missing) This was the only good thing worth to mention.
We were on MV Sawasdee Fasai for liveaboard from 2024/02/25 to 2024/03/01 with 9 divers and 1 non-diver.We had an amazing time on the boat, with beautiful underwater view, wonderful food and friendly dive guides, James and Adrian. However, 6 out of 10 crews of mine were missing money, ranging from 2000THB to 300USD, with all the safes in 5 rooms were either broken or couldn’t be used at all.2024/03/01, the first time I filed a complaint to our contact window, Doo, she merely replied ‘I am shocked. / How much money on each person / More than 4 people / How come it’s happened / OMG, and no further moves were taken.2024/03/05, the first time I e-mailed to official contact email: [email protected], asking to be got back to regarding missing money, but no reply was received after two days. I will keep on writing e-mails until I get a reply. It is for sure a bad image for West Coast Dviers, and for sure a very bad memory for me and my crews.(update on 2024/03/08)I got their reply on 2024/03/07.🚤 Contact window:You should have notify while we were onboard.👩🏻 My reply:We trusted everyone and everything on the boat, at least in the first place, and you should be proud that we do. That is why we didn’t even think of checking whether we lose money or not.I have raised a complaint as soon as my crews found out they lost money, which I sent you a Whatsapp message on 2024/03/01. However, all your reply were just ‘I am shocked. / How much money on each person / More than 4 people / How come it’s happened / OMG, and no further moves were taken.🚤 Contact window:Safe boxes are not broken.👩🏻 My reply:At this point, it didn’t really matter whether safes work or not since we are already checked out as you said and there is we no way we are able to find out.The point is, money should never be missing whether the safes are working or not.🚤 Contact window:She’s checked with the other Chinese group’s agent, and no one lost anything.👩🏻 My reply:First of all, they are TAIWANESE, not Chinese.Secondly, either you didn’t ask or you might ask the wrong agent. I have made a contact with the other group, and have confirmed at least 2 of them were missing money as well. Others are still checking and confirming.Next time, before you reply or claify anything, please make sure you did check the authenticity of it.I would have believed in you if I coudn’t have the chance to contact the other group, wouldn’t I?
It was a very memorable journey with a warm team of staff, everyone was very sincere and kind and helped me a lot in diving and living. The view is awesome and I really enjoyed the time when lying on the deck under sunshine and beautiful starry sky.
What an experiece!!Vincent explained us every small detail from firts briefing and every step was smooth and easy going.Every person from the diving staff (Vincent, Pong, Yeye, Juna, and specially Stefan, my DM) where doing a great job and werer really professional. Most divesites had good visibility (minimum 15 meters) and they were plenty of sealife to see.I really apreciate that we had Nitrox dives for free, because diving 4 times a day could be exhausting and Nitrox help on the recovery.Groups were designated by levels, so most divers in every group had similar skills and background to enjoy long and relaxing dives.Plenty of food on every meal (5 a day including snack time and pre-breakfast time),and really delicious (thanks to the cooking staff) and everything was clean and ready to use all the time (thanks to the housekeeping staff too). The only thinh that could anoid you is that some of the budget cabins are really close to the engine and it could become really noise when the boat is moving. In general, 10 out of 10. I would repeat the experience with out any doubt.
Fantastic LOB experience. Food was very delicious with multiple cuisines on different days. Dive sites were average expect Richelieu Rock which was the highlight of the trip. Our dive guide Pong was a good guide with a sense of humour. One small improvement point would be to install mirrors in the toilet. But overall it was a good 1st LOB experience
I went on a 4-night liveaboard journey with West Coast Divers aboard the MV Pawara, and my overall rating for the experience is a 7 out of 10. **Pros:**1. **Exceptional Crew:** The crew of MV Pawara stood out with their professionalism and friendliness, enhancing the overall experience.2. **Delectable Food:** The on-board cuisine exceeded expectations, offering a variety of delicious meals that added a positive note to the trip.3. **Free Nitrox:** A notable perk was the inclusion of free nitrox, providing enhanced diving experiences for those certified to use it.**Cons:**1. **Limited Dinghies:** The availability of only one dinghy was a drawback, impacting flexibility and accessibility for diving.2. **Cramped Cabins:** The cabins were notably small, which could be a discomfort for guests seeking more spacious accommodations.3. **Crew Sleeping Arrangements:** It was disappointing to learn that the crew had no designated sleeping quarters and resorted to sleeping on the deck, raising concerns about their well-being.4. **Irregular Cabin Cleaning:** The cabins were not cleaned daily, which fell short of the expected standard for a liveaboard experience. In summary, while the MV Pawara liveaboard offers some positive aspects such as an excellent crew and delightful food, there are notable areas for improvement, including the limited dinghy availability, cramped cabins, crew sleeping arrangements, and irregular cabin cleaning. These factors collectively contribute to my overall rating of 7 out of 10 for the trip.
I wish I had a more positive experience onboard but i hope my review will allow some positive changes because the boat crew and a couple of dive guides were deserving and should be applauded. In particular my Thai Guide Pong. A very patient and chill individual who aim to really make the worst dive the best dive. Some things are really beyond his control such as visibility and other divers’ air consumption. He made my trip fun 🤩.The standard cabins are on the lower deck with no windows and poor ventilation cos the air condition works poorly in the day. It is no wonder they installed a fan. The toilet gets choked up and I had to request for the boat manager to pump out the system cos the smell builds up and worst case the back flow of everyone’s waste coming into my toilet bowl. By the 3rd day i was down with the worst vomiting and diarrhea. About 4 others got it and the boat manager claimed it was a bug going around the boat. What I learn is the consistent exposure to sewage over 3 days can make one sick as well. I am not sure but I wont rule it out. Every trip to the toilet is a lucky draw if I get a nasty surprise of built up waste about to spill over. The medical box had medication but whether they were suitable to take when diving is questionable. There were no other pain/fever meds except ibuprofen. Yes it is the divers responsibility to bring their own medication and I acknowledge it was my mistake for forgetting to pack them in. So do remember to pack your own medication when doing a LOB.Dives were all good with Pong until they switched us around and I got to dive with boat manager Vincent who seems very unhappy to be stuck with a situation where 2 of his dive crew was down and he had to take groups out. He employed a tactical move of exhausting his group with fast dives where you may stop to look maybe at the most 4 times in a dive. He does not maintain a consistent depth to the point my dive computer was screaming and he did not turn back to check on us. I did my safety stops and had to do a mad catch up to him which exhausted me. My buddy kept running outOf air due to speed. We knew Vincent was the issue because all our other dives with pong we did a 60min dive with 70bars left.I also saw how high strung he was and he took it out on the staff and scolds them in front of guest like he did with Pong who was kind to take me back into his group. Vincent told me he didnt care if i dived with him yet within 5 mins he gave Pong a piece of his mind about taking on 6 divers in a group which was no different from Day 1.Vincent may be a good boat manager but not a very pleasant individual when he is under stress.Suggestion: Toilets to be cleaned daily to ensure hygiene and thorough clean the boat if there was an outbreak of a virus to prevent further spreading to the next group.
Wonderful experience on the MV Pawara. Nice dives, very friendly crew and dive guides and unbelievable food. Special thanks to the cook Oi, the team leader Vincent and my dive guide Adrian…. And to the guitare fish who showed it’s skin the last dive.Emmanuel
I had a wonderful time on the Pawara Liveaboard! The staff is so friendly, helpful and best of all: you can tell they love what they are doing and they don’t just go through the motions. The dive guides got excited about the dives, even though they’ve done it a hundred times. Special shout out the our dive guide Rishab who not only kept us safe (everyone was very profesional), but made the dives fun and a great experience. In general, everything was very well organized. The rental equipment was in good condition and everyone had enough space and time to get ready. The food was outstanding with different dishes everyday. The common areas where nice and clean. I booked the budget cabin with a shared bathroom, which was no problem at all. It was very clean and I rarely had to wait to use it. The only drawback was the AC in our room, which wasn’t clean and didn’t work properly at night (it was either too hot or too cold at different times throughout the night, even though we didn’t change anything in the settings). Overall a very good experience and I would definitely recommend booking with West Coast Divers!
Wonderful staff, fun and attentive. Excellent diving and master divers. And the food was amazing! I highly recommend this team. Thanks for an amazing experience.
