Phuket Cooking and Charity by Mike is perched on a picturesque hilltop overlooking 19/4 Moo 3, Khoa Kaew, Muang, 83000, Thailand
Mike is such a legend!!!!! This was an all round fantastic experience!! We learnt about the Thai culture walking through the local markets and buying ingredients with mike. Then being guided through making 5 traditional and delicious Thai meals, which they kindly catered towards our vegetarian needs!! The best part was taking all the food we had made to an orphanage and playing with the children for an hour or so,Such a unique way to learn about the culture first hand while also helping the local community!
It was a fantastic Sunday spent with Mike and his family! Mike picked us up at our accommodation at 7:30-8:00am. We started the day at the market with Mike introducing us to the ingredients commonly used in Thai cooking, soaking in the local culture at the same time. He taught us how to choose the vegetables, which is a valuable skill for us beginners. Then we proceeded to his home for the cooking lesson. We really appreciate the warm hospitality from Mike and his family – we were given coconuts, snacks, bottles of cold water, as well as cold towels – which were all perfect for the hot weather. They are also very patient in showing us how to cook. Each of us has our own working space, individual stove, and undivided attention from the family. We made 4 dishes and 1 dessert – they are simple to learn and the food tasted amazing!Bringing the food we helped to prepare to the orphanage was a meaningful way to end the cooking tour too. Highly recommend this to anyone who would like to do something different and meaningful while experiencing the local culture during your Phuket trip 🙂 All the best to Mike and his inspiring project!

Wonderful hosts with great English which makes The whole Thai culture and cousine experience even better. Very friendly and yet very professional. My wife and I had a wonderful experience with Mike and his family. We learned a lot, both about cooking and about local culture. Mike picked us up, took us to the market and showed us different ingredients which we got to buy. They had bought the bulk of the food previously, so we didn’t have to buy everything, which was nice. They then took us to their house, where they met us with drinks. Then we started cooking! Their English is great and they are good teachers. We had fun, learned a lot and enjoyed some great food. We then took some of the food to the orphanage they’ve partnered with to share some of the food and play a bit. We got to see a lot of local culture, ask lots of questions, and see some real life in Phuket. And did we mention that the food was great! A great experience overall. We’d highly recommend it!
My daughter and I did cooking three days ago in Phuket. Mike and his wonderful wife picked us up from our hotel and took us to a nearby market to introduce us to the various ingredients in Thai cooking. After that, they drove us to their lovely home to start their cooking class. The cooking lesson was interesting and detailed and easy to learn. The dishes taught were truly delicious and mouth- watering. Later we delivered some of the food to Mike’s children charity. It was a heart-warming cooking lesson with a good charity course. I highly recommend this course to anyone. The cooking class has not only filled my stomach but also open my heart to the people of Thailand and the children of Phuket. I would do this course again for sure so I highly recommend everyone to join this cooking journey with Mike and his lovely wife.
Mike, his wife and son were fantastic. We were picked up by Mike and taken to the market to help shop for some ingredients. Then to their house to cook 5 yummy dishes. The instructions were clear and the atmosphere was very welcoming for all ages. Mike is passionate about his project (providing food and scholarship to orphans) because of his own beginnings which he shared openly. He is also very happy to share the Thai culture not just through food. His wife and son were very welcoming. I recommend this experience!!
My partner and I had a memorable experience with Mike. We had an amazing time learning to cook some of our favourite Thai dishes such as spring rolls, chicken green curry, tom yum prawn, pad see ew and MANGO STICKY RICE from your lovely wife and yourself. Your project is a great idea and I highly recommend anyone visiting Phuket to book this experience as not only do you get to broaden your cooking skills into the Thai cuisine and eat it, but the food cooked is also given to an orphanage as part of the amazing experience. An amazing experience with a generous caring and gracious host. A perfect activity for a couple of friends small group or family.. Not only did we get to learn how to cook 5 dishes we also got to learn about Thai culture .A good quantity of what we cooked we took to an orphanage.where we were able to spend some time getting to interact with the children and learn some of their storiesHighly recommend this to anyone who wants to spend time with a Thai family in their every day life,
What an amazing day! Mike picked us up promptly and his English is great so we had a good chat about his life and family on the way to market. The market experience was superb as we had to search out some of the ingredients for the days cooking. In all we made 5 dishes guided by Mike and his wife – and with a little help from Leo their son. The food was excellent but far too much for us to eat. Mike reassured us that none would go to waste. We took some of the food to the orphanage and after a short spell of shyness the children began to trust us. We then had a crazy hour of mayhem and Lego which, I think, we enjoyed as much as the children. Great day out and a good look at Thai life.
