I had the chance to participate to this experience and it was the real highlight of the week: you can work to help this wonderful elephants and not only use them as many others in Thailand do. We did their meal, helped bathing them, prepared the meal and fed. I loved to share an entire day with them and with the people that every day work there.
We did the half day experience at Elephant Sanctuary Care Park. It was just our family of four, and it was amazing. Eddy and his team run a small business, and it was exactly what we were looking for. We didn’t want a big commercial operation, we wanted something small and that’s what we got. We were well looked after, and more importantly so are the elephants. I would definitely recommend this to a small group or family. Just enjoy every part of the experience.
I went with my daughter who has dreamed of working with elephants for years. This care centre provided everything it promised and more. Loads of time spent with elephants- feeding, bathing, walking etc. We took hundreds of photos. We weren’t hurried in any activities. The money we paid goes to providing for these retired elephants. The way they were cared for raised our hearts. We were provided with clean outfits and towels. The lunch was lovely with a good choice and we had water provided all day. Highly recommended.
We have just come back from an amazing day out at the Elephant care centre in Chiang Mai. Reading reviews of various places we came across this one and loved the idea of seeing the elephants in their natural habitat. The day did not disappoint! Please be aware there are lots of reviews of similar places that highlight animals in chains and not looked after. I’d like to reassure you that in this particular place this is not the case. The animals are well looked after, no chains and the organisers especially Eddy show lots of care, compassion and enthusiasm for the well-being of the two elephants on site. We started the day with a pick up from the hotel, we then called in the markets to get bananas to feed the elephants and then headed off to an area of the jungle. We fed the elephants bananas then had lunch that was prepared for us by the guys on site (delicious!) and in the afternoon we made Vitamin balls to feed them and bathed them in the river. A great experience and a fabulous day out was had by all. Please ignore any bad reviews and check out for yourself. Enjoy!
My last visit to Thailand had this as my number one priority. Being a big animal lover and visiting a place where you don’t ride elephants and your entry fee goes toward making sure these Gentle Giants live out their lives in peace and comfort. Makes it well worth the price.
Elephants sanctuary, beautiful experience taking care elephants. Feeding, bathing, playing with the elephants, awesome time.Esther and Jeffrey
We had a fantastic morning visiting this park. The staff were great and we walked with, fed and washed the elephants! Thoroughly recommend this, one of the best things was that it was not touristy at all just in the nature.
This is a non commercial center that takes care of elderly elephants. You get changed into work clothes( clean and folded) in a dressing area and then get ready to work. We made food and medication “balls” and the fed them to the elephants. Bananas were dessert. As we were working an excellent staff member was explaining all you wanted to know and was anxious to answer all questions. The highlight was walking the elephants down to the river and getting in with them to give them a real scrubbing. It was an amazing experience. Showers are provided before getting back into your own clothes From where you enter it is a long uphill walk to the Center. It is mostly a wooden walkway with a few stairs with high stepping needed. If you have any mobility issues it is not the place for you. At the top you can get drinks, ice cream and a few snacks .there are tables in the shade. It was a highlight of a 2 week trip to Thailand
So personal! So much time with our elephant! Only four people for one elephant, very relaxed, we had so much time with her. Unfortunately no bathing because the rain was too hard and the river too fast, but they leant us ponchos and boots so we could walk more with her. Beautiful lunch on a terrace over looking the forest. Handmade coffee. They took stunning professional (free) photos of us so we didn’t have to think about taking photos. In the afternoon we went to ENP to meet the babies. We felt like super VIPs and I felt very privileged. Thank you Care for Elephants xx
Todd our guide was amazing, we love the whole experience, the elephants are very friendly and we got to interact with a 5 month baby elephant which was very playful and cute.At the end of our “tour” we ate some home made pad Thai and some fresh fruit, it was delicious.Definitely one of the best experiences of my life, totally recommended.Greetings from Mexico!!!!
