  1. PLENTY TO EAT – DONT HAVE LUNCH BEFORE HAND. 4 Hrs of being driven around to 4 different places and all food and drinks included! Today we did the Foodie Culture Tour for 4 hrs we were driven around to restaurants and eating places that LOCALS go to. Loved getting off the tourist track and experiencing some places and foods we would never have done by ourselves. Very informative and note one of the restaurants pictured was recommended in Michelin 2019. Note: Thais don’t care what a restaurant looks like, it’s all about the food. The Michelin Restarant was nothing but dodgy tables, daggy tiled floor, plastic unmatching table cloths and plastic old school chairs. YET highly respected for its food. Also went to a small eatery/shop owned by a lady in her 70s. She works 7 days from 5am to 7pm and with her income supports ALL her family. Terrible looking shop but again, somewhere the local go and know they will receive great traditional southern Thai food taught to her by her grandmother. Great afternoon/night out.

  2. Wandee was such a great tour guide and we ate such delicious food and learned so much about some of the lesser known southern Thai dishes. Our first stop was an authentic southern Thai restaurant where we tasted amazing spicy chicken curry, tasty fish and the absolute best mixed fried rice! We then got amazingly fresh mango sticky rice from a local roadside stand and washed it down with Thai iced tea and coffee. Wandee is awesome to talk to and we can’t wait to come back and take one of her cooking classes. Highly recommend this food tour!

  3. We just had an amazing food tour of Takua Pa with Wandee and Bruno. Wandee took us to lots of wonderful eateries full of locals and we had authentic Thai food. Our first stop was to an a restaurant that cooked the most delicious Phad Thai and fried fish balls with spicy sauce. Definitely a dish to rival the famous Thip Samai offering, at a fraction of the price. For dessert we had a very typical Thai dish – Bua Loy, sticky rice balls in sweet coconut milk. One of my favourites I must say. Second stop was at a local wet market for various types of Khao Nioew Bing, sticky rice in banana leaf with various toppings – coconut with shrimp, coconut with sugar, Thai custard and the one everyone knows, mango! After that we drove to the old town and the walking street and bought lots of Thai street food – Khanom Jaak, sticky rice with shredded coconut meat in a banana leaf and charcoaled; green grass jelly dessert; sticky rice with banana wrapped in banana leaf and the list goes on. The piece de resistance for me was the jungle durian which had much less flesh then a normal durian but was so deliciously sweet. You have to buy this one quick as the guy normally sells out real fast. We then drove to a Michelin star restaurant for some very special dishes – Aubergine salad with fried garlic and onion and a rice dish which has several components on the plate with it – shredded shallots, pineapple, stir fried chicken and chill and you mix them all together and enjoy! The dish is called Khao Khluk Kapi. In essence, even though I am Thai, Wandee introduced me to some wonderful food I hadn’t had before and was brilliant company as well. I highly recommend her food tour

  4. When in Khaolak, make sure you do Wandee’s foodie tour. We thoroughly enjoyed seeing areas of Southern Thailand we would never have known about. We did the tour on a Sunday and visited a street market which was incredible. So many yummy things to try at the market as well as enjoying the best prawn Pad Thai and dinner at an amazing Michelin recommended restaurant. Thanks for a fantastic day Wandee!

  5. Get away from the tourist restaurants and explore real Thai food. You won’t find these places on your own. From multiple tastes at a “walking street” market, the best pad thai I’ve ever had through to superb crab curry at a Michelin recommended restaurant. Wandee is a very friendly and extremely knowledgeable guide. Great with our ten year old too. The highlight of our trip to Thailand.

  6. Thanks Wandee for a great afternoon tour. We very much enjoyed your explanation of and enthusiasm for southern Thai food. We learned so much and ate sooo much fabulous spicy food. We can tell people we had Lo bak too! A great memory of our first trip to Thailand. Highly recommended.

  7. Thank you Wandee for a fabulous foodie culture tour. Your knowledge of and passion for southern Thai culture and cuisine is wonderful. You took us to places we would have never found on our own and given us memories of this beautiful place to treasure. The crab curry was delicious and the roti volcano was amazing!

  8. We had such a good time on the food tasting and tour! Wandee ordered several dishes we’d never had before and was great about making sure the spice level was adjusted to our tolerance. After the tasting, we went to a market for dessert and tea. Wandee helped us try several tasty and interesting sweets, including a roti volcano, which actually looked like a volcano. We loved walking around the market and hearing about the different foods even when we were too full to taste anymore. Thank you Wandee!

  9. We were not sure what to expect on this tour, so we were pleasantly surprised. Wandee was very riendly and knowledgeable, and shared her enthusiasm for the food of Southern Thailand. This tour also included the culture and history of this area. Do not eat lunch as the food keeps coming! Definitely a highlight of our holiday.

  10. Wandee was an awesome foodie guide. I have a shellfish allergy, and other foodie tours were afraid to include me in their tours, since shellfish makes its way into many sauces. No problem for Wandee! She took my husband and I on a private tour and make sure everything was perfect! We loved the food, and Wandee was absolutely delightful! My husband had wanted whiskey, and many of the local Thai places get rum confused with whiskey. Wandee picked us up a bottle of whiskey to bring along! This was a special experience for us as we celebrated our 35 year anniversary.
