We visited this sanctuary after doing research on which one was ethical. This lovely sanctuary does not offer the usual bathing/feeding etc but does offer the opportunity to see their rescued elephants learning how to be elephants again after years working. The scars of their previous lives are visible but this sanctuary provides an excellent environment for them to live out their years. The guide provides you with the background of each elephant whilst you are able to observe them at a respectful distance. The lunch and seed ball throwing was fun and we learnt a lot.If you are looking for an informative elephant visit then look no further – highly recommended
What an incredible place !!Definitely the highlight of our first trip to ThailandWe spent a full day at the krabi site enjoyed following the elephants and watching peanuts antics !Wonderful people very well organised and knowledgeable And truly as ethical as you can ask for The lunch was delicious and the kayaking was great fun 100 out of 10
If you’re looking for that perfect Instagram photo of you bathing an elephant in your bikini – don’t come here. This place is for serious animal lovers – not insta-famouses! The way the elephants are cared for is second to none. The Mahouts are incredible the way they communicate with these wonderful animals. Our tour guide was terrific – so knowledgeable – and its so interesting to know that the owner is 6th generation Elephant keeper – however, until 18 months ago the riding/bathing/feeding was still done here until they were approached by WAP to make the sanctuary ethical. There’s 7 elephants – all have had backgrounds in either logging or entertaining – and all now have a wonderful life roaming around this fabulous sanctuary eating whatever they like. A 5 star experience topped off with amazing food – in a safari type environment.Ok – its more expensive than other “Sanctuarys” but more than anything else go to support them in their work to ensure these animals are the happiest they will ever be in their lives.
We did the 90 minute tour, and really loved it.Seeing these elephants as close to their natural habitat as was possible for them (given every ones traumatic history) was a real privilege. The sanctuary is very open about it’s history as a typical ‘hands on’ experience and that allows them to make it very clear about the trauma that elephants in that kind of place suffer. They are also clear that they are not yet perfect (the elephants are tethered at night as they are raising funds for a night time enclosure) and this frankness gave me confidence in the other information we were given regarding how well they care for the elephants in their charge. Our guide was very knowledgeable and spoke excellent English
Had a fantastic day at the sanctuary. The work the people does is amazing! The giants animals is breathtaking.Would recommend to everyone!
My wife and I went on the half day tour and were truly humbled by our experience. All the elephants have been rescued and are completely cared for within their own environment. The tour is 100% ethical so if you fancy riding, bathing or touching any of these precious animals this is not the place for you. In actual fact no one in this day and age should be considering any of the aforementioned. The guides are great taking their time to discuss all the elephants, explain their background and how they were rescued. The mahmouts care deeply for their precious treasure. We were fortunate to see all 7 elephants on our tour, we were extra fortunate to see one bathing and enjoying itself in the water. You are provided with water, rubber boots and a tasty lunch was also included. This was the best tour we have done during our 2 months in Thailand and as I have already said we felt privileged and truly humbled to see these magnificent creatures.
A great experience for us and the elephants, as it is most ethical! We were able to observe the gentle giants in their natural daily routines and some even came pretty close to us voluntarily. Delicious lunch was provided with fruit and ice cream for dessert. We had full bellies for the rest of the day! Had fun shooting handmade seed balls into the vegetation with sling shots too! Highly recommend this amazing experience with knowledgeable and kind staff!
If you want to experience Elephants in the wild you’ll enjoy this, all the Elephants are rescued from either logging or tourism. There’s no touching, no washing them you just be taken around by the guides and see them in their natural environment, they do have mahoots who are there solely to keep an eye on them. We did the half day package in the afternoon and saw 5, it also included a meal which was good.
