We thoroughly enjoyed this morning tour. Whilst primarily a food tour, it was more than this as there was plenty of knowledge about Chiang Mai (and its food) provided along the way.The whole tour was at a relaxed pace and we never felt rushed, which is great in the heat.Obviously there are certain food stops during the tour, like the mango sticky rice and Huen Phen (excellent), where you are expected to eat, but because it is a “pay as you eat” tour (other than the upfront guiding cost) you can eat as much as you want. If you see something you fancy, buy it and try it! Worth pointing out what others have said though, don’t eat before the tour!Gade is a superb guide, very friendly with excellent English.
Highly recommend this food and cultural tour. Gade is so informative about all things Thai. I wish I had taken this tour at the beginning of my trip!
Gade is full of knowledge and will answer patiently to all your questions with a perfect english. She adapted the tour to a family with children pace.Close your eyes and let you guideI recommend it !
Great tour! Taken to all the best local places and explanations given of where Thai food originated. Would recommend doing this at the start of the holiday as then you can eat at the great places all holiday. Gade was a brilliant tour guide and very knowledgeable.
For anyone who enjoys Thai food this has to be one of the best experiences in Thailand. Gade is an incredibly well informed and interesting guide who weaves in information about Thai culture and history as she takes you round the market and various food stalls and restaurants. Not only will you be able to identify all the vegetables , fruit and spices in the market by the time you finish but you will also get to taste the very best of the local specialities in places you wouldn’t be able to find for yourself. So have a very light breakfast before you set out to leave room for the delights ahead and you will have a great time
We spent our first morning in Chiang Mai on the Elliebum walking tour with Gade. The your was wonderful and we learned so much about Thai food, culture and the country in general. Gade took us to placed that as tourists we wouldn’t have seem and have us a great insight into Chiang Mai and the whole country. I would recommend this your to everyone. The Elliebum boutique hotel is also a little gem and Gade gave us help with restraints and what to see while in the city. We look forward to seeing her again.
Gade’s food market tour has been a major highlight of our holiday in Thailand. This tour included not just a detailed presentation of northern Thai cuisine, but also a broad and super interesting introduction to the history of Chiang Mai, Thai culture, and society. Besides being exceptionally knowledgeable, Gade is genuinely interesting, likable, and joyful, guaranteed to entertain with great stories. The landmarks, restaurants, and market stalls she selected gave us the chance to try loads of foods and learn how to eat them, which we would have definitely missed during our stay.We loved the tour so much that we later went back to her hotel for a great happy hour with even more delicious food and very creative cocktails. We strongly recommend everyone visiting Chiang Mai to take this tour. Inquire directly at Elliebum Boutique Hotel.
We couldn’t have had a better introduction to Chiang Mai than Gade’s Guided Walk Food Tour. She is not only an incredible lady anyway but a most passionate, interesting and informative guide. In fact you get two tours in one: Thai and local Chiang Mai history as well as the most comprehensive introduction to local cuisine. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with Gade. Make sure you don’t miss it.
Truly amazing walk. We did this at the end of our trip. The tour covered so much more than food. We went to temples, discussed numerous aspects of Thai culture and anything that came into our heads really. We ate and saw things, particularly vegetables, that I now couldn’t even name and I doubt would find them back home. Highly recommended, Gade is happy to impart knowledge about Thailand in her flawless English. We are so much we didn’t need to eat for the rest of the day!
