  1. With so many temples in Chiang Mai, this one is somewhere in the middle. The stupa is quite nice and it has a good historical story based around the first ruler of the Lanna kingdom, but as a visitor site, it is average.

  2. This temple is showing signs of dilapidation. All the temples inside the moat seem to be beautifully maintained but this temple seems to be somewhat of an exception. It’s as if the temple has been forgotten – the main buildings are all locked up and seem to be filled with refuse and the brickwork and plaster seem to be deteriorating in parts. There’s little sign that the place is maintained regularly or the trees and shrubs are cared for. It seemed to have been abandoned until a monk was seen near his quarters. With a little care and attention it could be a very good temple – there is a nice square based stupa with niches but showing signs of decay and the standout feature is a fine statue of King Mengrai himself, the first Lanna king, who deserves a good home.

  3. It is one of the Chiang Mai little temples. It is a gem with a beautiful ceremonial gate. Close to Ratchamanka street. It is easy to find. We visited after doing some nice shopping in Ratchamanka. It is close (walking distance) to the other temples that are considered the Chiang Mai’s little jewels (Muen Ngon Kong, Phan Waen, Phan Tao, etc.).

  4. This temple is right across the street from the Amata Lanna Juangmuang hotel. (We actually stayed there and it was wonderful)There is a beautifully crafted archway with an iron gate at the entrance to the temple. It’s very pretty. The temple itself has a couple parts. The main temple has red carpet inside and you can take off your shoes and kneel at the alter and meditate or pray or give thanks. There are beautiful painted pillars inside and golden buddha statues at the head of the temple. Around the side and towards the back is a second smaller temple with a very large golden Buddha inside. There is a little garden area towards the right with a little waterfall and some elephant statues. It’s very quiet here as well, and not too touristy.

  5. This Wat was peaceful with very well kept grounds. There is a very old Chedi, a standing Buddha & many open buildings. Very nice!

  6. The only thing that characterizes it is the elaborate gate which offers a nice view. The outside and the inside have nothing special.
