Booked the June Bahtra day trip to ‘James Bond Island’ and surrounding areas as we didn’t want to kayak or cave as offered on other trips there.The transfer from hotel to marina was included as were National Park fees.Pick up to marina took 1 hour from Cape Panwa, obviously this varies from hotel to hotel, but it’s an air con mini bus arriving in time for a 9:00 departure.Arrival at the marina to getting onboard was fairly quick, a few forms to complete for insurance purposes.We were lucky as there were only 12 passenger, it can take 20 or 30 depending on which vessel they use. It’s low season so they need a minimum number so it’s worth being flexible on dates if it’s not high season.The three boats are all based on traditional Junks, they use engines all the time but do raise the red sails during the trip which make them stand out from the speedboats around!There are ‘day bed’ and bench seating to relax on, mainly under coverA Thai buffet and soft drinks was included, beer available at 80B, the food was good, when booking if vegetarian ensure your agent books the meals and double check prior to boarding, the food is prepared onboard during the trip so it’s too late when it’s served to ask.The slow pace of the trip was part of the relaxing day, set off to Phang-Nga Bay, time spent swimming at sea, transfer to a Long Tail boat to visit ‘James Bond Island’ and Panyee Sea Gypsy village and all the time passing many of the 42 islands for the photographers in the party.The guides and crew were all excellent and informative.The return transfer was as good as the pickup.
I loved my trip today and our group saw many interesting sites. The crew was very attentive and helpful to all of our needs, including vegetarian food for me! The ride in the boat was very calm and I didn’t get seasick once the entire day! I loved all of the islands we visited.
June Bahtra day cruise was one of the most fun and relaxing experiences I had on my trip to Thailand. The cruise on the sail boat lasted about 2 hours after which we boarded a long boat which took us to Sam Chong Nuea Village. I was afforded the opportunity to learn how to tie die a handkerchief. During our visit we learned about village life from local villagers. We learned how local tea leaves are used and processed to make soap, medicine, etc. Village craftmanship was an awesome sight to see – so creative in how they use natural resources which are at their fingertips. We left the village via the long boat to James Bone Island. The crystal clear water and rock formations created a wonderful backdrop of scenery while we cruised along back to the sail boat. Swimming was an option but the wind blew in making it a little choppy so the staff recommended staying on board. We returned to the sail boat and headed back to the marina. A variety of snacks, Thai desserts, tropical fruit and drinks were available to cruise guests. The total number of guests on the cruise I went on was 10. The sail boat is larger enough to accommodate more than 10 comfortably. The marina and cruise ship staff were very friendly and wanted to ensure that we had an good time – which we all did.
My sister and I went for.lunch and ordered the plaice .It looked very nice ,but mine wasn’t cooked and my sisters was tepid .We sent it back for a second go .It was cooked ,but still tepid and unpleasant .The staff treated our complaint professionally and I wasn’t charged for my lunch and we were offered a free dessert ,but what we wanted was a nice lunch with my sister .Will not be returning .
HIGHLY Recommended. Our family of 4 went there and enjoy every minute of it. We enjoyed tea picking, see the hand tossed tea master doing her tea and enjoy our amazing lunch. Definitely come back!!!
