Our family did the “feed me” experience including the shuttle transport from the EJS office in Chiang Mai. I wasn’t sure how “hands-on” the experience was going to be but was absolutely amazed and delighted at how much we got to interact with the elephants. We were able to hand feed adult and baby rescued elephants and wander around with them while they grazed on bamboo. We were also lucky enough to watch a few of them having a bath. It was lovely seeing these elephants now happy and healthy and being able to be elephants rather than human entertainers or logging transportation. Highly recommend and my 2 kids (9&11) also loved it.
We were picked up right on time and proceeded to the camp. Pang, our guide, gave us a lot of useful information about the elephants in Thailand and the efforts to take care of them in the sanctuaries, along with some tips and warnings about approaching the elephants. We did our initial feeding for them with bananas and pumpkins, then had photos with them as they ate some of their other food. We then made vitamin balls for them, then gave them a bath before having our own lunch. It was a fun and wonderful experience getting to be next to the elephants, and it was clear that they were well taken care of in the sanctuary.
What a great experience. We did the ‘Watch me”Comfortable pick up with other travellers. We cut up watermelon, made high fibre vitamin balls and walked with the elephants. The caretakers are amazing and know their elephants well. The Elephants live a much better life after being rescued in the non profit sanctuary. Our guide Champo was amusing, relaxed and informative.Enjoyable lunch tooOnly negative is the long 30 min stop at the 711 on the way.
Great experience and can really see the passion put into the sanctuary care, very nice staff. Would highly recommend Jack & Karina
I did the morning half day tour and it was a phenomenal experience! They have 7 different camps in Chiang Mai and I went to camp 4, it was a stunning site nestled on the side of hill with a stream at the bottom for the elephant bathes. It was a perfect excursion and a must when visiting Chang Mai
We opted for a half day experience and we arrived at camp 5 where there were 5 adult elephants and a 2 year old calf. The sanctuary had a combination of rescue elephants and new borns where the guide explains the whole project and difference between domestic and wild elephants. You get to feed them, bathe them, take photos with them and a mud bath. At numerous moments I had tears in my eyes as they’re such beautiful animals who now have a safe home.
It was not just going to see and feed elephants. It was a learning experience on how elephants interact with each other and with people. To actually touch, feed, bath and totally immerse yourself into the experience was magical.
Feeding and observing the elephants eat grasses. No rides. Animals are chaperoned by their mahouts at all times. No coercion. Very chilled atmosphere.
What an INCREDIBLE day. The driver was punctual and friendly. We arrived at the sanctuary and were greeted by the owner. Took some time to tell us why he runs the sanctuary and how he got the elephants. We learned some info about the elephants then headed down to feed them, They provided us with a nice buffet style lunch. Afterwards we got more one on one time with the elephants. Mud bath, jungle walk, regular bath and making their vitamin balls. The guides were all so friendly and you could tell really care for the elephants. The main guide was so great with our kids ( 11 and 18) but there was another couple with a 4 year old and he was above and beyond with that kiddo. We had to cross over a bakeshop bridge and rocks over the river and the little guy was so scared and nervous he let the guide pick him up and carry him across then carried him through the jungle trek.
We visited Camp 4 on Fri 8th for the afternoon and had an amazing time, highly recommended. However the photographs that were due to be uploaded have been a duplicate of the people who visited in the morning. I have tried lots of methods to contact but sadly no response and still no photos 🙁 such a shame!
Fabulous day! Enjoyed lots of time on our half day session with the elephants at Camp 6 including a cute one year old baby elephant. This Sanctuary is committed to the care and sustainability of their animals, very educational, and so much fun. Don’t miss out on the river splash party. Photographer on site to capture moments for you and your family, as well as lockers and full shower facilities. Totally recommend.
My mother, two sisters, and I did the 2-day/overnight elephant sanctuary tour, and it was life-changing. Over the course of the two days, we got to visit three separate elephant sanctuaries, one of them including a baby elephant that was beyond adorable. The tour also included a guided hike to a stunning waterfall and through a small village. Throughout the two days, we were gifted with impeccable direction and endless elephant knowledge by our outstanding tour guide, Deo (not sure if spelling is right here.) You can tell that these guides care about the elephants and are extremely passionate about rescuing them from circuses and riders. In addition, the lodge where we stayed overnight was STUNNING, had great food, and was surrounded by a welcoming fun community of locals. Overall 10/10 experience!
Amazing trip, elephants are rescued and very happy in a natural environment with plenty of space. We got to feed and shower with the elephants on a half day package which o highly recommend for around 1200 THB thanks again elephant jungle sanctuary our female guide was so welcoming and educational we learnt so much about the elephants 🙏❤️
The most meaningful and wonderful experience in ChiangMai !! We fed the 4-5 adult and 2 smaller elephants with bananas and pumpkin pieces. So fulfilling. They took a bath and the smaller one rolled the mud, and pooped. We were educated on their poop and given a souvenir of the paper made of elephant poop ! Our big hearted and enthusiastic guide had a heart warming personal connection with the gentle giants.
It was a really fun time. The staff picked us up in a van and took us all the way to the sanctuary, which was a good 90 minutes away from Chiang Mai. We fed their elephants watermelons and bananas (all females, as the males are apparently too aggressive). We got to walk with the elephants, bathe them and give them a mud bath. The staff were all nice to us, and we enjoyed interacting with them as well. My main regret is only doing the full day trip, as I would’ve loved to see what activities they have in store for people who come there on longer trips.
My husband and I both agreed this was our favorite part of our honeymoon. It was an awesome experience getting to pet, feed, and bathe the elephants. The guides here taught us so much about elephant culture – we even got to make their food! The lunch at the end was great and the whole day went smoothly. Thank you for such a great memory!
Visited this sanctuary #6 in the mountains of Chiang Mai. This is one of our top 10 experiences ever. These rescue elephants are so happy and treated so well here. Our guide has been working with elephants all his life and was so passionate. We fed them watermelons and then interacted while they ate grass. We then bathed them in the river and after gave a mud bath.
We recently visited Elephant Sanctuary Number Four, and it was an unforgettable experience! The small group setting allowed for a personal touch, and our guides Kong ( and Po I believe was her name ) were incredibly knowledgeable and super funny, making the day even more enjoyable. The love and care for the elephants were evident throughout our visit. We had the unique opportunity to make vitamins for them and feed these gentle giants, which was such a rewarding experience. This sanctuary is truly a special place where the elephants are treated with the utmost care and respect. If you’re looking for a heartwarming and fun adventure, I highly recommend visiting this sanctuary! You won’t regret it!
This was one of the best experiences of our Thailand trip. We wanted to make sure that we went to an ethical Elephant Sanctuary and not one just for profit. What San and the others are doing here is amazing. We fed the Elephants, bathed with them and gave them a mud bath. You can see and feel they are truly looked after and I would ask everyone to visit to help with the upkeep of these most beautiful animals. Well done San and the team. You will not be disappointed if you visit. Best and most worthwhile money I have ver spent.
This was such a fantastic day out and a highlight of our trip. The full day experience was fantastic from start to finish doing a range of activities with the elephants. We particularly enjoyed the washing part. The guides were exceptionally friendly and informative. Lunch and transfers also good. Would highly recommend.
