  1. The people at Ao Nang sanctuary are very welcoming. Superb hospitality. The elephants are also very friendly. My 4 year old son enjoyed a lot.

  2. The elephants were very kind, they didn’t do anything rash! They were even afraid of the wind! So don’t worry about u getting hurt while being so close to them (watch your feet tho) The staff was very funny, they didn’t seem annoyed about our presence, more accepting than anything else!Would recommend, even alone!

  3. Such an amazing experience!!once in a lifetime opportunity such a beautiful thing and amazing people!the staff were so helpful and kind

  4. It was superb experience. Definitely for life. Very helpful and nice staff, they also took pictures of us. Elephants – the real heroes. If you still thinking – just go.

  5. Inconceivable that there are 5 star reviews as we (and many around us) found this experience underwhelming and annoying. The folks running it managed to eliminate the fun and tranquility that spending time with elephants brings. They take turns shouting into a microphone with an absurd list of instructions (and a few off-color jokes). After an hour of instructions, when you are finally allowed to hand the elephant a banana, there are constant corrections and reprimands. At one point, the gentleman next to me was physically moved by one of the workers which he clearly objected to. There were nearly 40 people being herded about and spoken to as if we were a group of 5 year olds. Although we had never met anyone (as we all came from different hotels) there was a collective sense of frustration as to what we were all experiencing. I am posting this in the hopes Ao reads it and makes necessary changes and also to save people the time and money of a colossally disappointing experience.

  6. This was a phenomenal experience with excellent staff and guides. Very memorable trip and it was a pleasure to see the animals and to interact with them.

  7. Very nice place! We enjoyed a lot the experience to bath and cred the elephants, and we apreciated the way the elephants are treated.?

  8. This was terrible animal cruelty. Baby elephants and adult elephants were chained on their legs and had to stand with seats on them in the same spot. This place had caged animals and allowed riding.

  9. We booked a trip with GetYourGuide prior to learning the UK. The supplier did a fantastic job from prompt pickup, great information, and interesting information throughout to drop off at the end of the visit. We never thought the experience would be half as enjoyable as it was, what a great opportunity and whilst massive and wild by nature, how beautiful these elephants are.The day started with some education and background on each elephant at the sanctuary, we where then shown how to correctly and safely feed the elephants. This was a really fantastic experience, each one having its own character. Then followed making some special food supplements to then feed the elephants. After this the real fun, actually having the chance to mud bath with elephants, splattering mud onto them and scrubbing in the mud before following them to the bathing pool. Here we were given little buckets and scrubbing brushes whereby we then splashed the elephants and scrubbed them with the brushes (which the seem to absolutely love).!!Once this is all done, you get to shower off and change before being given fruits, drinks and a chance to discuss with your fellow travellers. The staff, Mahoots and experience are all fantastic, definitely do not miss out on this fantastic place.

  10. It was a beautiful experience where we were able to interact with the elephants in the most friendly way possible. The animals are well cared for and loved in this sanctuary.

  11. Great experience, real highlight of the holiday. Seems like a genuinely caring place for the elephants. Interactions were slowly built up so the elephants could get used to us. No riding, just joining in feeding, cleaming and bathing them.

  12. Fantastic experience! Such special and treasured memories. Getting so close to these wonderful animals is one of my favourite travel experiences. Food and snacks provided were more than adequate and the knowledgeable and helpful staff made our visit more than special.

  13. Highly recommended and very informative trip . Includes a session on how to feed the elephants correctly and then after you make your own protein balls you can feed them to the elephants. You can then give the elephants a mud bath and then bathe with them

  14. Excellent trip highly reccomendWould go againThey accomadate you so wellThey train you very wellEverything about this tour is excellentFree photos too

  15. I have mixed emotions about our visit. When you first arrive the five elephants are all standing separately under trees. They must have been trained to do that, training methods unknown and if they wander their mahout will call them back to stand in their spot. A couple of them also trained to lift their trunks for photos. You then get to feed the elephants bananas and then make protein balls to feed them afterwards. Next you walk with them a very short distance for their mud bath then on to a pool to give them a bath and scrub. There are photos being taken all the time which they email to you but it personally felt abit too much. We expected a larger area for the elephants to live in and more natural surroundings where they can have more freedom. They have a clear routine each day for the visitors in a small area.It was great to spend time with these majestic animals however our visit was tinged with doubts about how ethical the sanctuary is. Certainly a step in the right direction from elephant rides and chains but still not the experience we expected.
