My wife and I were overwhelmed with the choice of schools on the island, went into Scuba Junction (having seen the good reviews on TripAdvisor) and immediately knew they would be perfect for us. They were so so friendly, and it really felt like a proper community. We did our Open Water with Thomas, who was amazing! We were both quite nervous, having never dived before, but he took us through everything slowly and carefully, and at no point did we feel out of our depth. Doing the first few skills sessions in shallow sea was a great start – we never went into a swimming pool. The whole operation is very professional and, having dived with other schools since, I appreciate how important safety standards and equipment quality are to Scuba Junction. Groups were kept small, so there was a real personal connection with the instructor, including a meal as a group to finish it off. We loved the experience so much that having done our Open Water, we immediately signed up to do the Advanced Open Water!Scuba Junction are an amazing family of instructors and staff. They genuinely enjoy their jobs and the people the work with and instruct. There is absolutely no reason to go anywhere else on Koh Tao to learn how to Scuba Dive.(P.S. this is quite an old review – we were in Koh Tao in 2016 – however I’ve felt a constant source of guilt that I never did the review because SJ were so great and they deserve every one of the 5 stars!!)
I did my try diving today and it was amazing. I was very lucky because to be the only person in the group, but normally they have 4 people maximum.My instructor JAMES was really cool and very attentive.I would definitely recommend this school and I’m planning to get back here to have my open water certificate.Thank you guys, it was a wonderful experience!
I did the Open Water course and couldn’t be more pleased. My instructor was James – he was amazing. Super professional, very encouraging, and really, really experienced. Because I was there in low season, I basically got private lessons for four days. I could see other companies with very large groups – I wouldn’t have traded the opportunity to get such high-level, personal instruction for anything!
I took my PADI open water 4 day course here! Really enjoyed the experience. We were only 2 ppl in the group which means it was almost like having a private instructor. Dan was the main instructor. You’re in good hands and you’re safe. Cool dude and very experienced. We had 2 more auxillary Instructors (Pascal and tattooed dude with a beard that I forgot the name, sorry) which are always there to guide you, answer your questions and make you enjoy the process. You also learn how to install all parts of the equipment yourself and take care of it all the way which makes you a better diver! Also they make sure you understand everything before you dive, so no stress. Overall definitely recommend… and will take the advanced courses with them
I partook in an advanced open water course at SJ. James, the instructor, was truly blessed with a calmness that relaxed me before the night dive and the other dives. Safety was an important aspect, but so was fun. All you need is James!
With all the scuba shops on Koh Tao it can be overwhelming to decide who to dive with. Save yourself the time and trouble by finding Gemma at Scuba Junction. Highly professional, well trained, and incredibly passionate about diving and the marine life around the island. Scuba Junction adheres to the rules and doesn’t cut any corners when it comes to your safety, so you can dive knowing you’re in good hands. My buddy and I went in November and got to complete our dives #5-8 all alone with the Dive Master there, it was like a private lesson. The staff there don’t treat you like customers but rather just friends ready to go spend an awesome day out in the waters 11/10 would recommend!
My friends and I got our certificate here on Koh Tao and we had a blast! Our instructors name is James and he made it all so easy and funny so you’d never worry going underwater
We started by watching all the films about diving. The day after we were in the pool with our instructor James. He is a really good teacher. He knows how to make it a fun experience to go diving. 5 stars from here, can definetely recommend if you want to go diving in Koh Tao!! ❤️

Well worth dive with a very funny instructor, with a bit too much energy at 5:45 in the morning. All in all a good company to book your diving with. I’m perfectly comfortable with diving now after the safe hands and expertise by James
