We highly recommend freediving (learning and training) with Apnea Total, Koh Tao. This is the mother school of many Apnea Total schools around the world that are equally trustable. It was the first freediving school in Asia. In its schools many freediving champions and record holders did their first steps. My kids did the Junior while we did our first certification years ago. Since then we always come back. My elder child is now an adult and just completed the Advance.Apnea Total is like a second family of blue hearts for us, if you want to test this amazing sport or if you want to be better at swimming in a reef coral this is the place. It will improve your abilities in ways you can’t imagine.
Apnea total was an amazing experience, Monica, Carolina and Nicky were all extremely knowledgeable instructors and created such a relaxed learning environment. The courses are tailored to you and how you feel on the day and the coaching is so helpful to start working on the small things that you would never notice you do. Can’t wait for the next course!
These guys were absolutely amazing. I went from barely being able to make 6 meters while still equalising, to being able to hit 30 by the end of my advanced course. The teaching style here is so thorough and passionate throughout. You will receive all the knowledge you need to dive comfortably and safely, to the depths. I really can’t recommend them enough. And we were so lucky to have their photographer, Emily come out with us one day when the conditions were right. Her photos were incredible. Feel very blessed. We did our Freedive Course with Goni, and he was the most wonderful instructor. Easy communication, such a good teacher both in classroom and in the water, and you can really feel his passion for freediving. His calm behavior makes us students calm and relaxed, just like it should be when freediving. We are both scuba-divers and we can recommend anyone, with or without previous experiences with water, to take this course. Thank you so much!
Best diving school in Koh Tao, I went there and I had the best experience on my all trip in Thailand. If you want to try freediving, that’s for sure the school you need to go !
I came for a week to Koh Tao. I decided to do something totally different and Free diving was suggested to me by a guy who was so impressed with it that I met at Mama Tams (head up- best Thai food on the island!) Let me start off by saying I’m not comfortable being in open water- but man these instructors made me feel so comfortable and mosr of all it was fun! Great sense of humor, always asking how I felt and feedback to help me get deeper with each dive. I didn’t get very deep- but it just gave me the confidence to try something new! I highly recommend it for anyone!
Came to Ko Tao to relax and do some scubadiving – then walked by Apnea Total on day 4 – what to say: we changed our plans (relaxation still on) and started with Apnea. We were welcomed to a very professional and friendly atmosphere and thanks to our (always patient, always reassuring) instructor Monica we already signed up for the advanced course. I can highly recommend this place!

Free diving was such a mystery and quite frankly scary for me. I decided to try it out and I can only say WOW! The experience has been so much fun and very humbling. The instructors were so friendly and informative. They were nothing short of constant encouragement in the water and helped me to get to 18 meters. I spent two beautiful days learning something new and it was worth it! Best of all the school is located right at the beach! Thank you to everyone at Apnea Total!
What a great experience!!! Amazing staff, super amazing instructor and such a great vibe at the shop and on the boat. I’m travelling alone and they made me feel so welcome, if only I could of stayed longer. 100% I will be back to carry on my freediving education with the APNEA TOTAL FAMILY!!
