  1. I highly recommend Freedive Koh Tao for a unique experience in the water. I really enjoyed developing my freediving skills with the friendly and experienced instructors (one of which holds a national freediving record) who always gave clear instructions. The instructors speak several languages, both Asian and European. Sometimes we would go snorkelling together after training, around the nearby beauty spots which was a lovely surprise. Freediving really adds a new dimension to enjoying the ocean, a must try if you are in Koh Tao!

  2. Had an incredible time doing my AIDA2 with Tom at Freedive Koh Tao. The whole team was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about all things Freediving with a focus on safely pushing your boundaries. Can’t wait to come back again next time!

  3. Very disappointed with this center! Our profile: I can describe my self as sea person as my hobbies are scuba diving (master scuba diver level), sailing, spearfishing, wakeboarding, swimming. I am living in Cyprus an island in the Mediterranean 200m from the sea so sea is part of my everyday life. I can describe that my physical condition is quite good and have no disabilities. My neighbour (he is permanently living in UK but has holiday house across mine) decided to meet in Koh Tao with me while we were both on holidays with our families. He is doing several sports and excellent body condition. We decided to take the AIDA 2 course to enrich our knowledge, learn it the proper way from professionals and get certified. Why we chose this center? Because back in Cyprus most of the centers were based on AIDA syllabus and because of the good reviews. After we completed the course we checked again the reviews was very surprised by the way to see that many of the reviews are from customers who left a single or few reviews only and then disappeared as reviewers and never reviewed something except this diving centre that makes me suspicious. So what happened:We met for the EQ workshop the day before the course start but none of us manage to do the frenzel equalisation. First disappointment was that we expected that they will try a bit more on teaching us this or at least one of us to get this right that didn’t happen. Next disappointed was the long tail boat that left us in the middle of the sea and left with others for another site, to do our 1st sea lesson with Nikolai (in case something was wrong no boat was near for safety). After we returned we were given the course material and saw a presentation on the screen and were informed that we will have an exam next afternoon. The next day after the 2nd pool dive we went to the twins dive site for the 2nd sea dive. We were told that relaxation was major factor in free diving but in contrast we were taken in very bad weather to diving. Imagine trying to relax during waves and while taking deap breath to have your snorkel full of water from the waves repeatedly.Anyway despite that we both reached the 12 meters dive and scored over 95 in the exam. After we finished the exam Nikolai told us that he will certify us both as AIDA 2 Poor. We were surprised and asked why. He told us that our performance in the sea was not good and that we touched the rope while diving. We explained him that it’s not fair or right to explain us rules or give us goals after we exited the water instead of before so we will know what we should have done and do it properly. He told us that we have 12 months to complete the course with another school back home and pay another center to certify us as AIDA 2 or come back to Koh Tao again to them etc. He told he was sorry that he was not clear for the goals but he didn’t tell us to avoid stressing us.I found this experience so frustrating and felt that we should not keep it for us and for this reason we are sharing it here. Hope it helps them get it right or others to stay out of similar situation.1. Try a bit harder on teaching the frenzel equalisation2. Safety first. It’s good to have a boat close instead of dropping divers and leave ( in case of emergency)3. Don’t take students during waves and bad weather to teach them how to relax while drinking sea water from the snorkel4. Explained the requirements and targets for successful completion of the course on the beginning of the course and not jus mention at the end that you failed for reasons they didn’t know or warned for5. Staff mistakes can’t be charged to the customers 6. Not nice to hear staff pushing you to buy pictures for 500thb per person Marios

  4. I did the AIDA 2 course. I struggled with equalisation but Tommy kept at it, coaching me 1:1 and making me practice every day and after four days I was able to perform Frenzel equalisation with head down. As part of the AIDA 2 course we went to the open water on both days of the course. The water was super clear and all around you could see blue and the rays of light from the Sun. It’s so calming at depth and without scuba equipment you are much calmer, feel freer and more connected to nature. You can also hear a low rumble which I have no idea what it is but it’s so cool. The view of the surface from depth is cool. There are no fish or corals but I liked the fact that the water seemed so empty – it was super calming and beautiful. A few jellyfish float around which is nice to watch, and on the last day I saw two small squid which was epic.I was taught by Tommy and Niko, both knowledgable and friendly. We were in a group of 4 for the theory and we have max. three people per buoy in the open water. We also did pool sessions to practice static and dynamic apnea, which was nice because we were practically the sole users of the pool.I also had some photos taken which were sick!Freedive Koh Tao has made me discover something new that I love!

  5. Ridiculously good. From the first moment they were welcoming, helpful, patient, chilled and completely on the ball, both while interacting casually and while doing the important work. Tom, Niko, Regina and co are a credit to themselves and should be very proud of what they do 🙂

  6. I booked two coaching sessions with Freedive Koh Tao. Had an amazing equalization workshop with Tom the day before the first dive and a very nice coaching session the next day. Sadly due to coming down with a flu couldn’t make the next days dive and got a full refund for it, the staff was very understanding. The quality of the coaching, athmosphere and the laid back staff is top notch. And the joint Cactus Cafe serves delicious smoothie bowls 👌 I warmly recommed Freedive Koh Tao for first timers, as I felt the quality of teaching was very high. Thank you Freedive Koh Tao and thank you Tom!

  7. I attended the AIDA 2 course with Charley, who is not only a great instructor but also ensures we have fun. The AIDA 2 course includes the AIDA 1 content, so you just do two days instead of one. We were three people in our group, which I thought was perfect because everyone needs relaxation time. Charley explained everything really well and always paid close attention to what we were doing. Whether it was my bad duck dive, where he stopped me, or my poor head positioning (I just like to know where I am going…), he was always there to help and correct us.Freediving is a dangerous sport, and I think they are really responsible. I did not make the required 12.5 meters with proper techniques, so I did not pass on the second day. But it’s not a problem. I could just redo it in a coaching session (or you can do it somewhere else), which I did with Nico, and I even made it to 17 meters! Great coaching, guys, and a really big thank you!!!
