  1. We arranged airport transfer and two tours through Khao Lak guru. The first tour was to the Cheow Lan lake where we took a boat ride with a long tail boat, went to Diamond cave and did a Jungle walk. After the lunch we could also swim in the lake. Unfortunately we did not see many animals, but the guide knew a lot about nature and talked very interestingly about animals and plants in the jungle. We liked the guide’s caring attitude towards nature and people and his great sense of humour. The second tour was to Little Amazon and Takua Pa old city. We also went swimming at a waterfall. Nature was incredibly beautiful. We had an idea during the tour to see some elephants and our guide managed to organize it immediately. The guide was knowledgeable, he provided lots of explanations in the temples and old city and he was very interesting to listen to.The airport transfer was also very punctual. We were very satisfied with both tours: everything was perfectly organized, the lunches were in beautiful locations, the food was delicious, the nature was wonderful. Both guides were attentive, friendly and fun and spoke English very well.We highly recommend booking your trips in Khao Lak from Khaolak Guru!

  2. We contacted Khao Lak Guru 24 hours prior to booking an airport run from a hotel on Coconut Beach to Phuket airport. The pick up was arranged for 6.30a.m. The service was impeccable, the car arriving at 6.15a.m., was spotlessly clean and the lady driver polite, efficient and an excellent driver. We were thoroughly impressed with the service from initial correspondence, answered quickly, through to the drop off at the airport. Competitive pricing, would recommend highly. Thank you!!

  3. Incredible experience and excellent service from start to finish. If you want to experience a bit more of Thailand other than the beaches ( which are totally beautiful anyway) then it’s worth getting about the country a bit to see a little taster of the culture and life. Would highly recommended Khaolak Guru for these experiences.

  4. Looked online before we came out to Khao Lak for a respected tour organiser, and Khao Lak Guru seemed to fit what we wanted. We emailed and organised 2 trips with them, 1 to ‘James Bond’ island and another to the elephant sanctuary. Both trips were excellent! On the 1st trip it was just my wife, myself, our guide Tab and a driver in a air conditioned mini van. We had a fun packed and adventure filled day, visiting the island, another island where the locals lived, a trip through a mangrove area in the boat, a canoe adventure, and we ended up the day visiting a Buddhist temple and adjoining monkey sanctuary. A full lunch was also included that must have had 5/6 plates of food each. Fantastic value for money. On the second trip we were joined by a family of 4, so another small group. We visited the elephant sanctuary, got to clean and feed a 8 year old elephant. We then were taken rafting down a ‘relaxed’ river and again a superb lunch was provided. After this we visited a different monkey sanctuary and then a waterfall. Again we were guided by the awesome Mr Tab! He’s great fun and has a brilliant sense of humour! In summary we can not recommend Khao Lak Guru enough! They were excellent and should we come back we will definitely use them again!

  5. We have just been on four super tours with Khaolak Guru. Our guide for all four trips was the amazing Tab -a very friendly and knowledgeable guy with a wealth of experience and knowledge, as well as a great sense of humour and fun.Our first tour was the Three Temples Tour which was absolutely wonderful. The first temple blew our minds – The huge temple complex had been completed recently with support from the Thai royal family and integrated Hinduism and Buddhism in beautiful rural surroundings. It was a joy to be in a temple area which was quiet, respectful and holy. We were fortunate to watch a ceremony taking place : a group of elderly people praying for their ancestors as they walked round the temple winding a golden sash around the shrine. Tab brought us flowers to lay at the altar and pray for our loved ones. The second temple was high on a hill with amazing dragons guarding the main temple building. There were huge beautiful statues nearby – the Hindu Goddess of Mercy being one. Tab explained the Buddhist horoscopes according to the day of the week you were born, which was fascinating. Our third temple, the Dragon Cave, was quite different a cave complex high in a cliff face. A very fascinating experience exploring the little altars and chambers within the cliff face where local monks go to stay the night and pray. We loved the whole day – Tab was an amazing guide. and Mark our driver was very careful and considerate. We were delighted when Tab and Mark were the team that collected us from our hotel for our second day out – a wonderful tour to the beautiful Cheow Lan lake. This stunning lake has limestone cliffs and islands reminiscent of the scenery in Guilin in China. We crossed the lake in a long tailed boat, enjoying the peace nad tranquillity. We then had a wonderful walk in the jungle, Tab helping us to listen for the different groups of monkeys high in the trees and showing us the wonderful trees and eco system. On our way back to the boat we explored a cave high in the cliff where Tab showed us the fruit bats roosting amidst stalactites/mites: quite fascinating! we then crossed the lake to enjoy lunch on a stilted houseboat before returning by long tailed boat back to to our driver Mark. A wonderful day!Our third tour was a snorkelling trip to the local Khao Na Yak house reef. We again took a long tailed boat through beautiful mangrove scenery out to open waters. We had three or four snorkelling stops, where the boat captain and Tab kept a close eye on the tides and how this affected the currents, moving us on if safety became an issue. They both came in the sea with us from time to time and pointed out ‘nemo’ clown fish and a large cuttlefish. Whilst I am a pretty confident swimmer, my husband is older and a bit less confident; Tab and the Captain kept a close eye on him, assisting him where necessary so that he could fully enjoy the day. My husband remarked that it was one of the best snorkelling trips he had ever been on as we were able to see a great variety of fish whilst being well looked after. We also enjoyed watching monkeys gambolling on a small island where they were chasing each other in and out of the sea!Our fourth wonderful tour was to an elephant sanctuary on the border of the Khao Sok National Park. Last year we went with Ching from Khaolak Guru to this sanctuary and had an amazing day with her, enjoying the rafting and waterfall. This year we wanted to visit the elephant sanctuary again as we so loved our experience last year bathing Aorratai ( Most Beautiful Lady), the huge ‘ grandmother matriarchal elephant of the sanctuary. This year we were given Sawnoy, (Young Lady’), a much younger elephant who had rather a mischievous nature. She was great fun as she squirted herself with mud, also splattering us a bit as she did! We covered Sawnoy in mud whilst paddling in the mud pool and afterwards followed her to the river where we scrubbed her skin and tipped water over her to rinse the mud off! This was her spa treatment! We were told that elephants love their mud bathing and she certainly fully enjoyed herself. We were fully confident that Khaolak Guru partners with this sanctuary because they look after their elephants and their mahouts treat the elephants kindly, with the utmost care for their wellbeing. We can’t recommend Khaolak Guru highly enough. Our tours were fantastic – we had excellent care from every member of the team. Mee in the office is a great administrator, Tab was a fantastic tour guide and we would also like to thank the manager Mr Aod for the thought and personal attention he gave to planning and organising our trips. Thankyou!

  6. I organised return airport transfers and 2 day trips (Similan & Cheow Lan Lake) through Khao Lak Guru and could not recommend them highly enough! They are very well priced, communicate and set expectations very well and to top it off, provide excellent tours! Our Similan was through a partner (Sea Star), but Khao Lak guru took care of everything, picking us up in the morning to take us to the pier and bring us back to the hotel (The driver, Chok is a champion!), and the tour with SeaStar was excellent. The next morning we were again picked up early to visit Khao Sok NP and again had a great, very personal and informative tour with a great lunch and lots of free time to enjoy the place.Would highly recommend Khao Lak guru, we’ll definitely be using them next time we visit Khao Lak

  7. Myself, my husband and our 20-year-old son spent an amazing two days doing the Khao Sok Elephant Sanctuary and James Bond Island trips. These really were the highlights of our holiday in Khao Lak! The booking process via the Khaolak Guru website was smooth, with Mee immediately confirming our trips, timings and what to bring. Our guide, Odd, and his driver picked us up from our resort on time in a comfortable, air-conditioned minibus. We were the only people on our tours, which was a bonus and made the trip particularly good value. Odd was friendly, informative and accommodating and spoke very good English. On both trips we were offered extras such as local fruits, soft drinks, and food for the animals. The Khao Sok tour began with a trip to the elephant sanctuary, where we fed and bathed gentle, 8-year-old Wandee. We then had a gloriously peaceful cruise on rafts down the Sok River, after which our navigators cooked us tea/coffee on a fire and served it to us in cups cut from bamboo. We drove to a stilted restaurant in the jungle for a Thai set lunch, and then on to the Temple area, where we had fun feeding the local monkeys and having them hop on our shoulders. The trip was rounded off with a bathe at some (very!) hot springs. For the James Bond Island tour we were picked up early to avoid the crowds. We were lucky enough to be the only people in this stunning place when we arrived, following a ride on a traditional long tail boat through the rock formations of Phang Nga bay. Afterwards we were rowed in inflatable sea canoes through tranquil mangroves and sea caves, and then taken in the long tail boat to the stilted Muslim fishing village, where we had a Thai set lunch. The tour ended with a trip to a Bhuddist cave temple. I can’t recommend Khaolak Guru highly enough – we were well looked after and wish we’d had time to do more tours while we were there.

  8. at the end of november 22 we (me and my wife-age 74) stayed for 8 days at the excellent merlin hotel in khaolak region – thailand(about 100 km north from phuket). khaolak, beside being the most suitable for a restful holiday in the coastal landscape of thailand, characterized by the fact that some of the most sought-after attractions are in its immediate vicinity–like “chao-lan lake james bond island, and pangnga bay.even before we arrived to khaolak, we contacted with “mee”who is a young woman that runs the khaolak guru company. they specializes in travel and training service in the areas attractions. mee responds immediately to any message by e mail or text message and her answers are courteous and professional. in addition, she is flexible and considerate of special requests and helps with difficulties that may arise. we have carried out with this company all the attractions offered, including a particularly experiential cooking workshop held at mee home with her family! all the attractions were carried out with great professionalism and taking into acount certain difficulties that we placed. these are good vehicles, and excellent drivers, and skilled guides who speak very good english.

  9. My partner and I did an ATV tour for 1hr. The tour was SO much fun! My husband had been on ATVs before and he said it was one of the most exciting tours. For me it was the first time but the guides were very thoughtful and did take care of me when I was a bit insecure. The owner of Khaolak Guru is very friendly and made sure the tour was organised perfectly including pick up and return from/to the hotel. We planned the tour only the evening before and everything was super flexible! We will definitely book again with Khaolak Guru when we are back in Thailand!

  10. Finished all our trips now James bond, khao sok lake, Surin Islands and khao lak experience. I can’t recommend Khao lak Guru highly enough. Mee and our guide Pom have been amazing from start to finish. I am not someone who posts regularly, great company to deal with, from the Barnes family.
