Kathmandu Photo Gallery is perched on a picturesque hilltop overlooking 87 Pan Rd. Silom, 10500, Thailand
Came here during our last day of our our 3 month trip to look at photos of Kathmandu, where we had been at the beginning of our trip. Let me say, it was a little disappointing. There was a small wall of photos hung on top of one another, none of which were from Kathmandu. A few books cluttered a table in the the middle. A few of them were about various aspects of Nepal but nothing Kathmandu-specific. Don’t have much to say about management as the guy at the back never spoke to us but it could be reputable. NOT A PHOTO GALLERY OF KATHMANDU!
Kathmandu is just for the name. It took from the impression from the owner for his younger year going around there. Kathmandu Gallery is one of the renown photo and art gallery. The exhibition is on rotation basis from both international and domestic.It took a old shophouse in Pan Road which is rich with Hinduism culture. The vibe and color on the first floor is nice. There are photo prints for sales and some books. The sofa there is welcome for your hot day walking around but there is no beverage selling. The second floor is very interesting with big open window in the gallery. The space is not big but sufficient for immense yourself.If you are interesting in art and photography it might be good to be on opening night. The opening night is according to each exhibition. Then you can mingle with the community. Discussion among the community and artists would maximize the visit. It is friendly place but not like talkative to you. Like the name, it is good for being there and be quiet and give some break of crazy day in Bangkok.
Not my normal thing to do, but since I always walk by this place thought Id pop in. Gallery space with original works on paper, photography, books, etc. Worth a look.
I gave them baby pictures to make wallet sized and they photoshopped the background out without asking. Now I have 12 really bad passport pictures with my babies ears cut off
After reading some of the reviews…which seem to focus on the name of this wonderful gallery instead of the actual art, I decided to add my review LOVE THIS GALLERY Thought provoking.. outside the box..not your run of the mill just for tourists gallery
