I fell asleep on my way home one morning on this Khlong boat. Lost, and in a stupor, I walked into Batcat thinking it was a bus station and bought something called a “musepass” which I thought would get me at least to Sukhumvit or something. I tripped through the turnstile and I thought I was hallucinating, There were colours everywhere, giant figures from cartoon tv shows had seemingly come to life. I only vaguely recognized some of them from peoples t-shirts that I’ve seen around town. Lots of depictions of this man that wears all black, some yellow humanoid figure with blue plastic on its head. The scene is nightmarish when you’re expecting a bus station, but I kept my composure. Finding a way out of the madness took some doing, as the exit was far from clear. I might have stayed in there looking around all day but the Air Con was a real motivator for me to get out of there as I was wearing some pretty skimpy cutoff jean shorts and a mesh top. might go back when I’ve some more clothes my mind right.
We had a lot of fun in this museum. There is no explanation anywhere, just toys but it’s awesome to see toys with which we used to play 10-20 years ago and to see all the heroes we like. It’s called batcat because the last part of the museum is dedicated to Batman. There are lifesize heroes sculptures with which you can take great pictures. Disney, Simpson, star wars, minions, avengers, the league, Batman, superman… They are all there. The entrance is too expensive for foreigners for the size of the museum but you can get the Thai fee if you have your work permit with you and it is part of the Bangkok museum pass which is cheaper than the entrance itself and that gives you access to more than 30 museums. So take the pass if you live here ;-)Too bad there was no postcards in the souvenirs shop.If you come from the center the fastest way to reach is the boat, you can stop at Bangkapi mall and then walk along the river and cross the bridge !
Attempted to visit here yesterday(21/03/2016) and it was closed. Opening hours are still displayed outside with no explanation as to why it was closed, I tried at both 1310 and 1420 in case it may have closed for lunch. I may try again when I return to Bangkok and next time I’ll call ahead
The tickets are a little bit pricey for a private museum but the owner is quite relaxing on rules since he allows reentry later of the day or going out for drink. He allows photography too!The place is literally a haven for kids and toy enthusiasts. It brings back a lot of memories when you see toys of characters you know since little in comic books or mangas. From Transformers to gundam robots to Pokemon, Doraemon, Marvel, DC, etc… are presented in this 3-4 sections museum. As its name suggests, a large room of the museum is dedicated to Batman universe. There are a few life size of figure like Superman, Batman, Joker, Hulk, v.v…Toy enthusiasts could spends hours looking at each and every figures (I know I would) or simply sit on a soft bench and look around, immerse into the toy universe. Kids could spend less time admiring the characters they love.
It has lot of Batman, spiderman, superman statues. It attracts the children really. It closes on Monday.
This museum is near Bangkapi market and The Mall Bangkapi. It is located near Ladprao road.It has enough toys that boys love like Batman, Superman, Doraemon, Spiderman …. And even toys for girls love such as Hello Kitty, Dora explorer, Miss La Sen …In short, this is the place that children should be visited.Adult fare is 100 baht, ticket for children is 60 baht. This place also sells T-shirts and toys with famous cartoon characters, even they serve beverage and food. You must pay for food and beverage.
Catch a boat down the canal for only 19 baht then a short walk later enter the batcave for a quirky exploration of toys.More than just batman, catwoman and the joker. Minions of all shapes and and sizes.Fun for everyone.
This place is a heaven for vintage toys collectors. The place shows tons of vintage items for you to enjoy with additional information via QR code links. Mostly are Japanese toys and some from us; such as Batman, Astroboy, Ultraman, Kamen rider, Transformers, Godzilla,Toys’ Story, and so on…. seems like unlimited list of toys, toys, and toys. I love this place. Notes that most are vintage toys, not many recent toys collections, so young kids might not enjoy much.
