  1. I have been to this historic house many times. This house is full of stories of Thailand especially in King Rama V time. This house is in good look and they also provide dinner meeting in a big group. The admission fee for Thai people is only 30 Baths.

  2. Dating from1897, this house is a testament to the era when the Phrae-Lampang area was home to timber companies which grew rich on harvesting teak. Owned by an aristocratic family who are known as the lords of Phrae, the mansion is both an excellent example of teak-wood architecture and a reminder of the aristocratic families of Northern Thailand. This house combines Thai and Western elements and is described as being a local variant of the ‘gingerbread’ school of houses which were so popular at the end of the nineteenth century. The house contains original furniture, a porcelain collection, period photos and more. Entrance costs a very reasonable 30 baht.

  3. It is well worth a visit…beautiful old house …..love the floors ,the windows , and can imagine life in it ……..it is set up with old furniture ,photos and other artefacts …….it feels so peaceful light and airy …..Have been there twice and never more than a couple of people in it so that helps the peaceful feeling.

  4. A real old family house, full of furniture from 50-100 years ago, with some traditional Thai crafts but limited English explanation

  5. Only saw the outside because there was a private function in progress and it was closed to the public but they were kind enough to let me into the grounds for a few photos

  6. This house is so much more interesting than the Governors house down the road.If you are in Phrae then make sure you visit here.More English explanation is needed though.

  7. Old house in garden. Good to see the style and luxury of that time. But maintenance is needed and most explanations are in Thai only. Could be missed

  8. Disappointed. Was mislead by other reviews. Small house. Customer service non existent. alked around and did not know what I was looking at.

  9. This large house retains the furnishings of its bygone era, lending it a serene and elegant atmosphere. Photos of the old family abound, as do relics of its dual influences, ancient Thai (betel nut sets, floor cushions) and European (sit-down dining table, porcelain tea sets). Most striking was the realisation that the house was brilliantly built for the humid tropics. We were there on a blistering hot day (in the cool season!!), but the rooms, with their high ceilings, teak floors, and through breezes, remained tolerable even without fans or air-conditioning.
