Since the Aquarium is free and still pretty well maintained its hard to complain. It’s our second visit and our son loves it, we did three rounds in there before he was satisfied.
This is one of the few public places with absolutely no entrance fee to be paid.It is an old acquarium – evident from the state of some of its fish tanks, but it is well kept and clean. There are many fish species. There also an overhead tunnel part where the bigger fish – groupers and ray fish are housed. There are beautiful well kept gardens and grounds around the acquarium building. We recommend a visit here to fill out the kids’ day. Plus, its free!
I would have to disagree with the other reviewers I’m afraid. Most of the tanks are tiny and absolutely not suited to the size of the fish they hold. In some of them the single fish was so large that it was barely possible for it to turn around. Some fast swimming open water species were also kept in some of these less than a metre long thanks. If you are at all affected by animal welfare its best avoided
Located on Laem Sadet beach with a large amount of parking available, but during my first attempt to visit the aquarium it was at the weekend and it was inundated with coach loads of people and I abandoned the visit so I would recommend a week day visit if possible, much quieter. The building is of modern design and has easy wheelchair access, also well air conditioned. There is no admission fee and indeed we were welcomed with a beautiful Thai greeting by a staff member who was smiling from ear to ear! The attraction or indeed a learning facility has a lot of different fish which are displayed in mostly different tanks. Above each tank is information relating to whatever is in the tank written in both Thai and English. At the turn around point there is a walk through tunnel made of glass inside a large aquarium and you can view the larger fish which consisted of Groupers, Sharks, Cod and others from an insider’s view, I really enjoyed this part. The smaller tanks range from showing Groupers, Travally, Fusiliers, Ramora, Angelfish, Batfish and many more, you can easily spend an hour in here. The information carries on to the shellfish in the waters of Thailand although the shells are the only thing on display as their tenants have long since left their abodes. Unfortunately some of the tanks are too small for the fish inside and it really should be rectified and I hope they do but it is obvious to see the people working there care and maintain both the fish and tanks. Outside is an array of food vendors and ice-cream sellers were snacks and drinks are available, beautiful sea view also.
Very good aquarium with a variety of fish on display. Many fish are very large (may be a bit too large for their tanks though). No admission entrance. The children had a lot of fun.Don’t forget to visit other attractions in the area, such as the Sea Farming Demonstration Unit.
Let’s just say that I would not want to be a fish living in this aquarium. The tanks were depressingly small. However, the amount of difference fish they had was impressive in such a small place was impressive.
Aquarium with free entrance and parking spaces available. Of course the tanks could be greater. Anyway if you are in the Area its worth a visiting.
Compared with the Banphe aquarium located not to far away, this one does not fare that well. Building is quite old, glass in the walking tunnel not very clear and far less varieties of fishes.
We went into the aquarium with low expectations.FREE!!!Small but comprehensive experience of local ocean fish.Walk through tank with large fish, shark, stingray.
Lots of local fish in slightly grubby tanks, though a chap with a schnorkel was cleaning the walk-through fish tunnel when we were there. As usual in aquariums, the faded information panels above the tanks didn’t always have much to do with any fish currently in (or not in) the tanks beneath. But beautifully patterned conger eels, enormous groupers (“rock cod”?), a huge ray, and much else besides. And it’s free !
This was probably a pretty impressive aquarium when it was first built, but that must have been decades ago, and now it’s rather run down. The tanks are old and small and some of the fish are not healthy. They have some nice specimens, including a large grouper, but overall it’s underwhelming. It is free though.
