we found kwang pao beach maybe 14 kilometer in the north of khanom it is well posted from the mainroad. the beach itself is formed like a halfmoon and fine sandy. some resorts and beachbars are located in the back, but it seemed that not very much tourists found the road to kwang pao beach. it was realy empty and we were the only white tourists we saw. at kwang pao beach…generelly on the different beaches of the khanom area mosty thai people take their holidays. this depends on the cheap prices for resorts and restaurants, which sill exist in that region.we had wind and waves and we just moved hippdeep into the water, but it was deep enough to write that the beach slopes gently to the sea and so kwang pao is perfect for families with small children.the beach is well protected…at the northend are cliffs located…at the southend theres a pier with a few seafood restaurants and shops. the vegetation directly on the beach is reduced, because behind the resorts and restaurants a beachroad is located. a umbrella should be in the morning till the afternoon in the beach luggage.in the later afternoon shadow spaces are available enough.the atmosphere at kwang pao beach was realy silent and paeceful. we were alone at the beach the whole time under a shady tree and enjoyed the silence and the sound of the gulf of siam.kwang pao beach is s very nice place for shellcollectors. during lowtide we found a lot of beautiful shells and mussles of different kinds and we were very proud about our collection.we can recomment kwang pao beach very much. it is a beautiful silent beach with a very high grade of relax. the question is how long this will be the case, because in a few years the area of khanom and it´s beaches will be touristic explored without question.
Great sand and water, not a soul in sight… It only needs a clean up at the inland side – look at the beach/sea and you are in Paradise.
Another small, quiet and very clean bay in Nakhon Si Thammarat. I went there with a friend and spent 1/2 day metal detecting at low tide. Friendly people and a nice bay.
Nothing wrong with that, but not the most pleasant, a lot of human rubbish, and some questionable activities at the northern end, great cliff face and a walk along the pier at the other end is fun, decomposition in progress, walk carefully
This resort sits on the Kwang Pao Bay and has a bar, a rooftop entertainment area and about 6 chalets of varying sizes and prices. The cheapest being 1000Thb (approx. $30 ) per night. Th resort owner, Teo, has a cook and takes care of the bar herself. The resort is stunning with hammocks and leaning palm trees, soft, clear sand and beautiful beach, sea and moutain views. This resort is for you if you want peace with a little bit of the nightlife in the evenings but don’t want to be overrun by all sorts of weird tourists. This is a natural heritage site too, so pink dolphins, turtles and other marine life are in the offing. Rules are strict about litter in order to keep the beach as clean and beautiful as possible.
I spent a wonderful night there with my Thai school. My room was very comfortable and the beach was very beautiful. Great staff and great experience overall.
