  1. I visited this location today. Unless I was at the wrong location, the pictures on this site are nothing like what I saw.The photos shown here may be from a different location. At this site the monuments were a lot smaller. There was a new temple…. The original structure is a lot smaller than the pictures displayed here and a resident monk confirmed this location as did the sign. There was not much really to see here.

  2. The photos posted here and some of the reviews are referring to Prasat Muang “Tam” in Buriram Provice near the towns of Prakhon Chai and Lahansai. Prasat Muang “Thi” is much smaller and much less interesting and is located in Surin Province about 20km East of Surin City.Although this place is still interesting in its own right. It is nowhere near as spectacular is the larger and excellent restored Prasat Muang “Tam” in Buriram. I would only make a trip here if you will be staying nearby for a while or if you are a very serious Khmer Temple buff. Do not come to Surin thinking you will see the temple that is depicted in the photos here.

  3. I think it’s well worth a visit if you’re sightseeing in Surin. I recommend a stop at the BBQ restaurant close to the temple. You should be able to speak a little Thai. People are very friendly. Train ticket cost 4 bath and taxi 300 from Surin city.

  4. NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH PRASAT MUEANG TAM ! PRASAT TA MUEAN THOM IS LOCATED IN SURIN!As already observed in an earlier review, some pictures shown for this “attraction” are completely wrong.Prasat Meuang Tam (or Thi) is located in the Buriram province and is mostly visited in conjunction with Phanom Rung. One ticket covers both entrances.Prasat Ta Muean Thom however is one of three Khmer temple sites which can be found along road 2407, in the south of Surin Province, bordering Cambodia.Whereas the first two sites you encounter – Ta Muean and Ta Muean Tot – are no big deal, i was quite impressed by the 3rd, the Ta Muean Thom. When approaching, you need to leave an ID with a Thai military checkpoint, and another ID of some sort is required at the actual entrance of the site. If you’re a fan of Khmer temples (like me and my wife) I can definitely recommend a visit ! No entrance fee at the time of our visit. The site is guarded by a mix of Thai and Cambodian soldiers, who happily provide some information and pose for pictures. More details about the temple itself can a.o. be found on Wikipedia.
