  1. We walked around the local market for a long time and had a break with some coconuts on the stairs of this wat. There were plenty of locals also sitting here in the shade. The wat it self is not the best in town – however sitting in the stairs you see all the local shoppers buying their stuff and loading it up to pick-up truck to take back to their villages. We have seen great outfits of people aswell. In the market you are standing too close to people to really watch,… This place offers a good spot to do that.

  2. As I said in the title, you will find this temple worthy of a photo visit. It is very easily accessable and well worth a 30 minute visit if you find yourself in Chiang Rai.

  3. It’s within walking distance around the city centre. There are other temples and basically they are about the same, in terms of architecture…I would suggest for travelers who have say 5 hours before your bus/plane trip out of Chiangrai. If possible, let the city tour be the last on your itinerary.Have fun.

  4. This temple was unique in ways from other temples that we saw throughout Thailand. If in the area, it may be a good photo opportunity to add to your travel pictures.

  5. Beautiful wat, once called the Crouching Elephant Wat, it has elephants everywhere. Smaller than some of the other temples in town, it’s a spot of peace in a busy noisy place.

  6. While looking for the Wat Phra Kaeo, I passed by this temple. What shocked me is what appeared to be lack of respect for the wat. There are vendors selling fruits and vegetables along the street leading to this wat. The area directly in front of it is used for parking the motor cycles. There is very little space between the statue of the seated buddhas and those of the standing statues and the parked motor vehicles! Did not see anyone entering the wat to pray at the brief time I was there.

  7. The outside of the temple is all gold in colour. It is said that this temple has survived a bomb in its history, making it very special and famous for this reason. The temple itself is a small one but it’s architecture is full of traditional Thai temple details.

  8. We took our hire scooter to see this…lots of tourists but could still get some amazing photos & the sun was out so it looked even better

  9. This is a beautiful temple, but it’s not in the nicest part of the Province. Any peacefulness you expect to get at a Buddhist temple is ruined by the drone of cars and noisy motorbikes outside on the Main Street. The outside is beautifully decorated in red and gold. The inside is not decorated that much but the Buddha at the back is still pretty impressive. There’s some wonderful dragons guarding the entrance and some three headed beasts aswell!

  10. The huge contrast of busy market and the transient atmosphere makes it amazing and impressive.Religion is a part of Thai’s life.
