Phra Archan Man Phurithatto Museum is perched on a picturesque hilltop overlooking Thailand
Admittedly you don’t find yourself in Sakon Nakhon for tourism but there are a few places of interest. None so much more than the Venerable Phra Achan Mun Bhuridatta Thera Museum.Located in the grounds on the Wat Pa Sutdhawa, behind glass screens are the final resting place of many of Ajahn Man’s personal affects. Ajahn Man was a Thai Buddhist monk who along with his mentor were heralded as establishing a form of Buddhism through Thailand.Accompanying the glass screens the musuem provides explanations on plaques in both English and Thai of Ajahn’s involvement and the use of the items. Very informative.Ample parking is under the shade of numerous trees and there are were four food and drink vendors in the forecourt.
This is a must to see .Especially the time of the insurrection with communist forces, All depicted in mannequin form, and artefacts of that fight for freedom.
This place is located in the vicinity of wat pa sutthawas. The architecture of the museum building is contemporary style with local materials , look like boat shape. inside, you will be impresssed with original daily utensils, cloths, dressings, and learning about how his daily life activities in the past was.
As you would expect a serious monk has not accumulated many belongings so this small museum is calming and thought provoking. Also as expected the grounds are well tended and are a pleasure to wander in. There are two other mini-museums honouring two of Acharn Mun’s students – well worth your time
Avery nice and peaceful place. My wife and I were the only ones at the time visiting. There is a temple that looked so awesome, but was locked. The museum is very nice, lotsa information (in Thai) about the life and times of Mr. Achan Man. Worth the visit…
