  1. The original Wat Wang Wiwekaram is semi-submerged in the dam and being refer to the Underwater Temple. The present Wat Wang Wiwekaram Temple had been inspired by Luang Pho Uttama to rebuild on higher land. Visitors should find time to see both temples and appreciate the strong religious believe of the local residences. Even though progress had taken away their beloved temple, the Karen and Mon Villagers pickup themselves and built another temple to continue with them believe.FYI: Luang Pho Uttama also inspired the local residences to build the Wooden Mon Bridge. Our late King Rama 9 was a believer of Luang Pho Uttama for all the great deed he had done for the Karen and Mon residences in Sangkhlaburi.

  2. An interesting place to visit, quite a large site and a reflection of the different cultures and information on local history dedicated to Luangpho Ajahn Tala Uttama the Mon monk who set up the temple and is still highly respected by the local people. He still lies in state on site. Everyone you meet is friendly especially if you are respectful with your clothing.

  3. It’a pleasant enough monastery, you can observe people living everyday life there. We saw little boys-monks, which was interesting. Very quiet place, some beautiful buildings. It is spread between two parts, so on hot day might be a challenge walking.

  4. Quiet Wat.Wat in remembrance of the Monk presiding this Wat. There are videos of the Monk at the Wat and some history. Close to the Mon village. Quite few Wats around.

  5. Beautiful architecture. I am not a Buddhist but I went in. People were praying. I think if you want to see cultural Thailand. This is a place to be.

  6. This is not Thai style so you can feel a little bit of Nepal in Thailand. Not the coolest thing I have ever seen, but it’s close to Chedi Phutthakhaya. So if you are already close to the place, pay a visit also to this temple complex.

  7. To get here you need some form of transport as it is quite some way from town.In the open large building you can learn a lot about the history of the place and of the most revered abbot. If still available, buy the beautiful photo book inside the building at 299.- THB

  8. We think this special temple is very beautiful and pleasant to visit. The other buildings in the temple complex are also beautiful. The best time to visit if you want to get a good photo is about 3 pm when the sun strikes the from of the building.

  9. Wat Wang Wiwekaram is beautiful and peaceful. The main hall is nice. Girls aren’t allowed in the hall. The buildings in the temple are well maintained.

  10. This is a wonderful temple complex, wander up through the monastery and be presented with these amazing building in a large courtyard, wonderful carvings and design elements – it’s really worth a visit!
